The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Union Party, Aldar Khalil, spoke in a statement to Rojava satellite channel, about the rapprochement between Ankara and Damascus.

Aldar Khalil said: "The rapprochement between Ankara and the Damascus government does not mean that there will be an agreement or understanding between them, however it is a stage or a sign of the beginning of a stage, as we know the Turkish state has intervened in the Syrian file since the first day in 2011, where it is the main reason for the deepening and aggravation of the Syrian crisis, and failure of a solution to progress.

He stressed that "the Turkish state did not interfere in order to establish a democratic system and build a democratic Syria, nor for the Syrian people to live in safety and freedom, but rather its goal was how to exploit this situation to serve its interests.

Khalil pointed out that Erdogan's regime has remained in power so far because of the Syrian crisis, and it has been ruling for 20 years and managed to prevent the people from revolting against internal crises.

Khalil added: "Previously, Erdogan used to say that Bashar al-Assad has lost his legitimacy and does not represent the Syrian people, and I stand by the Syrian people, but after achieving his interests and occupying enough areas, he is now ready to meet with Bashar al-Assad. Both of them are dictators.

Khalil asked : "Have the demands of the Syrian people been achieved? Has Syria become democratic and free? The answer is no.

Khalil concluding by saying "Erdogan is trading with the Syrian people as he did with the Palestinian people. He has agreed with Israel for his interests, and now he is doing the same with Damascus."
