Health Body confirms: outbreak of Cholera in NE, Syria is under control

The Health Body of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced on September 10 the registration of several Cholera infections in Raqqa and the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor and confirmed that the Authority has recorded three deaths from the disease.

In a statement by ANHA’s agency, Joan Mustafa, confirmed the registration of several Cholera infections in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, saying: "The most cases have been recorded in the west of Deir ez-Zor so far."

On the causes and source of the spread of cholera in the region, Joan Mustafa revealed to our agency that: "According to our preliminary studies, the infections are the result of drinking unsafe water."

Mustafa stressed that the current situation was under the control of the Health Body and had taken the necessary measures: "The Health Body, in cooperation with the Health Commission of Deir ez-Zor, has taken a number of preventive measures."

Mustafa explained that cholera sufferers are now receiving treatment at the Ksara Hospital in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, and said: "In the next hours some infections will be deported from hospital those whose health is about to be recovered.”

Joan Mustafa explained that the Health Body has invited all international organizations, headed by the World Health Organization WHO, to provide the necessary support.
