Hundreds of Iraqis today stormed the Iraqi parliament building, during a demonstration called by supporters of the Sadrist movement in the Green Zone in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Roj news agency reported, citing sources, that supporters of the Sadrist movement stormed today the Green Zone in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

According to the sources, the demonstrators stormed the beginning of the Green Zone from the entrance to the Legislation Gate, which faces the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and al-Rasheed Hotel.

The demonstrators also stormed the Iraqi parliament building, amid reports that shooting was heard inside the Green Zone.

In addition, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa al-Kazemi, called on the demonstrators to adhere to their peacefulness and to immediately withdraw from the Green Zone in the capital, Baghdad.
