​​​​​​​Hamid al-Abed: Popular circles reject the ineffective Russian presence

Turkish crimes and violations against North and East Syria have provoked the continuous bombing of populated areas for 5 years; Popular reactions against the Turkish crimes and the silence of the Russian guarantor and the Damascus government forces about them.

Russian forces and the Damascus government forces had deployed along the frontlines with the Turkish occupation and its mercenary groups in October 2019 as guarantor forces; After the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces, 32 km into the depth of Syrian territory, to remove Turkish pretexts.

This month, Turkish UAVs targeted 4 sites in North and East Syria, resulted in the martyrdom number of leaders and fighters in the Syrian Democratic Forces, as part of a series of Turkish crimes committed against the region.

This coincided with shelling for three consecutive days, carried out by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries extensively on the areas of Tel Tamr, Zerghan, Shara, Sherawa and Tel Rifaat with heavy weapons, which resulted in the martyrdom of a citizen and the injury of 9 others, in addition to the loss of a member of the Damascus government forces and the injury of two others.

Commenting on this, Hamid al-Abed, the co-chair of the Girê Spi/Tal Abyad County Council, told ANHA’s agency that popular circles are witnessing unprecedented anger against the guarantor Russian presence and its ineffective stances towards the crimes of the Turkish occupation.

Hundreds of people from Ain Issa district protested last Sunday, in front of the Russian base; Condemning the continued attacks of the Turkish occupation state on their areas, and the Russian guarantor overlooked them.

Hamid al-Abed added that the people of Ain Issa district, which has been witnessing a continuous Turkish attack for years, have reached the conviction that the presence of Russian forces in the region is useless, and that they in the Autonomous Administration are facing popular pressure, calling for pressure on the Russian administration to play its role in stopping the crimes of the Turkish occupation.

Since October 2019, ANHA’s agency has documented the martyrdom of 23 citizens and the injury of 72 others in the countryside of Girê Spî and Ain Issa district, including 41 children, in addition to the destruction of 113 homes and the displacement of residents of 12 villages as a result of the continuous bombing.

Hamid al-Abed indicated that a delegation from the tribes met with the Russian leadership at the Russian base in Ain Issa, and that they promised the tribes to end Turkish crimes, and al-Abed pointed out that the tribes promised the Russian leadership that they would escalate the activities against the silence of the Russian guarantor if the Russian forces did not commit to their role in stopping Turkish crimes.

At the conclusion of his speech, Hamid al-Abed said that the initiative is in the hands of the people, and its message is clear that it will not leave its land, but will resist any occupation, and any force that colludes with the occupiers in light of international inaction.
