SDF: ISIS mercenary killed, another arrested in Deir Ezzor

SDF's official website said that its special units carried out a security operation yesterday, Monday, 12 July, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, "aiming to dismantle one of the ISIS cells.

The website indicated that the operation took place in the "Al-Zar" area, with ground and air support from the international coalition forces, and targeted "two gangs who are active in recruiting mercenaries for ISIS, and they were working alongside one of the organization's leaders in making explosive devices and transferring them to cells, in addition to their participation in carrying out attacks targeting members of our military forces in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The Syrian Democratic Forces pointed out that its forces "stormed the whereabouts of the two members, to be able to arrest one of them while the other fled, and deliberately opened fire from a hiding place at our raiding forces, which resulted in a clash that led to his death."

It stressed that "the joint work between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the international coalition continues in the field of combating terrorism to stop activity of ISIS cells and other terrorist cells active in different areas of North and East Syria.
