​​​​​​​Ferhad Merdi: it is time to rise to occasion

Days ago the annihilation operation was undertaken by the Turkish occupation army with participation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party as the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kazimi preserves silence.

The operation came three days after the visit paid by the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government Masrour Barzani to Turkey where he met both Turkish president Recey Tayip Erdogan and Turkish Intelligence Services head Hakan Fidan. In addition to the separation wall built between Shingal and Rojava and the attacks they undergo.

As they operations go on amid an intrepid resistance by the guerrilla forces, voices rise from all Kurdistani circles all over the world to denounce the participation of the Kurdistan Democrrtaic party in the operation as the whole NES witnessed marches supporting the guerrilla fighters in repelling to Turkish occupation forces.

ANHA met Ferhad Merdi, the Kurdish poet and singer to shed light on the latest developments.

Merdi said:  the latest attacks on the medya defense zones are not like the previous ones, or like any other operations launched previously by the Turkish occupation army. This is a wide scale attack against the Kurdish people at large. They do not target the Kurdistan Workers' Party, alone rather it targets the all gains made by the Kurdish people''. 

At the beginning of April Merdi was injured in a drone strike by the Turkish occupation army in the Tirbe Spiye district of the Qamishlo Canton in eastern North and East Syria.

Merdi denounced participation of some Kurdish parts in Southern Kurdistan in the attacks carried out by the Turkish occupation state on the medya defense zones in an indication to the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the PDK, calling on all artists and intellectuals to warn against war atrocities and calamities. 

On the position of betrayal undertaken by PDK Merdi said: ''because the Kurdish people since years live such pains, the intra-fighting pains, we wish that such a thing not take place, we wish this will never take place''. 

Merdi said their forefathers wanted the Kurds live as a united people and not a dismembered one, ''as our enemies are united against us we should be united against them too, they do differentiate between the Kurds, they target us randomly''.  

Merdi said there are parts they claim Kurdism work for the interests of the Turkish occupation state and soled the Kurdish question to the enemies of the Kurdish people meaning PDK, ''they are not Kurds, rather they are faked''. 

On the aim of the attacks carried out by the Turkish occupation state against the Kurds, Merdia said this goes deep in history, its aim is not terminating the PKK but it targets the Kurdish people under fighting terror, and to export crises of the Justice and Development Party out of Turkey. 

Regarding the resistance put up by the guerrilla fighters in standing up to the Turkish occupation forces Merdi said ''Turkish occupation state seeks to weaken the Kurdish movement. We are confident of the guerrilla fighters. As we have said previously, they protect our dignity and honor and our fighters are at tops of Kurdistan Mountains, had it not been for them there would have been no gains''.

''today the whole world speaks about Kurdistan by sacrifices made by fighters and martyrs'', he said.

Merdi said Kurdish intellectuals and writers ought to be vigilant to work out not to serve enemies, they ought to support the Kurds and protect this land, ''we are confident of their resistance and strength, and that they will attain victory''.

The Kurdish poet said the Kurdish people are open to a mass plot played by the Kazimi government, PDK and the Turkish occupation state, noting to the wall built between the Shingal province and Rojava and the attacks on the Peoples' Defense Forces and on North and East Syria. ''They are part of this plot''.  

Ferhad Merdi called at the end on the Kurdish people to stand up to these plots hatched by the Turkish state and its backers, '' we should work out for our people, if we lose these gains we may not be able to make these gains again. History would curse us''.
