​​​​​​​Shengal Protection Units:  Iraqi army's attacks on Shengal come under pressure from PDK and Turkey

The Command of the Shengal Protection Units issued a written statement about the attack launched by the Iraqi army on the Asayîşa Êzidxanê points on April 18, stating:

On April 18, in the afternoon hours, the Iraqi army launched an attack on Asayîşa Êzidxanê points in the Dokreh area, As the Asayish forces were forced to respond to these attacks, although they fired warning shots, the Iraqi army continued the attacks, injuring a number of Asayish forces and civilians.

On April 19, at 2:00 at night, the Iraqi army attempted to launch an attack on the common checkpoints with us, trying to arrest a number of our comrades, and take control of those checkpoints through which we fought ISIS and sacrificed for them.

Despite all the attacks of the Iraqi army, our forces have not been drawn into its provocations. However, the Iraqi army continues to incite and provocation until this moment.

The statement continued, "Our position is still within the framework of finding solutions without provocation, and therefore we do not see any separation between the attacks of the Iraqi army and the attacks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Turkish occupation state, and these attacks come under pressure from the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Turkish occupation state, as they seek from behind these attacks to imposing slavery on our people again and occupying our land, and keeping our people under slavery, some Iraqi parties want to carry out another massacre wanted by the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Turkish occupation state, in order to end our political will and return us to 2014.”

"We are part of Iraq and we share a presence there, but the Iraqi army attacked us on a day when we celebrate Red Wednesday," the statement affirmed.

The statement indicated, "Since October 9, 2020, we have been trying with Iraq to develop appropriate solutions and this is our decision, but despite that they are trying to attack our values ​​and our gains, forcing us to respond to those attacks, during which two of our comrades were martyred and others were wounded."

To put an end to these attacks, the problems must be solved through dialogue. As the problems have intensified, we are confident that they will be resolved through dialogue. We, the Shengal Protection Units and the Women’s Protection Units-Shengal, protect this land and sacrificed hundreds of leaders and fighters for this and defended our land and people in the most difficult circumstances, and we also fought valiantly against the forces of darkness are ISIS, and we have never left our trenches, and from now on we will defend ourselves against all attacks, and this is our promise to the heroic martyrs and our people that we will defend this historical land until our last breath.”
