​​​​​​​KRC distributes bread to people in besieged al-Shahba canton

 As part of the campaign launched by the Kurdish Red Crescent in northern and eastern Syria, to distribute bread to citizens from the city of Derik to al-Shahba, the campaign was launched this morning in the villages and towns of al-Shahba canton, in addition to the five camps located in al-Shahba and Shirawa district. It is scheduled to distribute 46,000 bundles of bread.

 Members of the Red Crescent began distributing bread within the communes in villages, districts, and towns.

 It was scheduled to distribute bread in the neighborhoods of Sheikh, Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, but due to the tightening of the siege by the Damascus government on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, the Kurdish Red Crescent was unable to reach the two neighborhoods and secure bread.

 In this regard, the administrator of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Alia Muhammad, the Afrin branch, spoke and said: "Today we started a campaign to distribute bread to the citizens residing in al-Shahba canton, from the displaced of Afrin and the people of al-Shahba, within the framework of the Kurdish Red Crescent campaign that was launched about a week ago in the north and east  Syrian Arab Republic".

 Alia added: "We had hoped that we would be able to secure bread in the city of Aleppo and distribute it to the people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, but as a result of the unjust siege imposed by the Damascus government, we were unable to secure bread for distribution."

 The administration of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Alia Muhammad, confirmed that 46,000 bundles of bread will be distributed to the people in al-Shahba canton, while international and human rights organizations called for rapid intervention and pressure on the Damascus government to lift the siege on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in the city of Aleppo and al-Shahba canton.
