Yazidi Women’s Union in Rojava: Separation wall is to eradicate the Yazidis

Angry reactions continue in Shengal in Southern Kurdistan, and Rojava against the backdrop of building a wall separating Shengal and Rojava. Since mid-March of this year, the Iraqi army started building a wall separating Shengal and Rojava, which the popular circles see as a revival of the 9 Agreement October 2020 between Hewler and Baghdad.

The administrator of the Yazidi Women's Union in Rojava, Souad Hesso, commented on the construction of the wall separating Shengal and Rojava, saying: "The plans of the Turkish occupying state and its followers continue with the support of the Iraqi army and the forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, who have sought several times in their forums to undermine the will of the Yazidi Women's Union in Rojava. The Yazidi people in Shengal by opening the way for ISIS mercenaries to commit massacres and exterminate the Yazidi people,” referring to the ISIS mercenaries’ attack on Shengal in 2014.

Souad Hesso drew attention to the fact that the construction of the wall is an extension of the trench that the Kurdistan Democratic Party forces were digging around Shengal to prevent the people from escaping from ISIS’s brutality at the time, as their goals (the Baghdad and Hewler governments) represent the completion of what ISIS could not complete; It is the extermination of the Yazidi community and the obliteration of its heritage and culture on the orders of the Turkish occupation.

Souad Hesso considered the construction of the wall as a targeting of the Autonomous Administration in Shengal and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, which was a slap in the face of the occupying Turkish state, and said: “the strong relationship between the sides did not applaud the Turkish state. So, it seeks to target this unity.”

At the conclusion of her speech, Souad confirmed that their plan to prevent the link between Shengal and Rojava will fail, as did their previous occupation plans, calling on the people in Şengal and North eastern Syria to raise the pace of struggle in the face of conspiracies and schemes aimed at breaking their will.

For her part, member of the Yazidi Women's Union coordination, Hadiya Shammo, saw that the Iraqi Government, by building the wall, is trying to subjugate the Yazidi people to its authority after abandoning them during the ISIS mercenary attack on the region.

Hadiya Shammo indicated that the Baghdad government, with silence and inaction from the Kurdistan Democratic Party, in agreement with the Turkish occupation state, "are trying to isolate Shengal and the Yazidi community from the rest of the communities, by placing them in a large prison in order to break their will and the administration that was built with the sacrifices and blood of the female martyrs and martyrs."

Hadiya Shammo called on the KDP to back down from stopping providing support to both sides, and to return to the Kurdish rank, and also called on the whole Kurdish people and the components of the region to come out against the conspiracy that planned against them by the colonial regimes.
