Turkish state continues to kill detainees in prisons

The detainee, Mehmet Sevinç, who suffered a brain haemorrhage, martyred in the Turkish Akhisar prison.

Muhammad Sevinç, who was detained in the Turkish city of Manisa, suffered a brain haemorrhage, on the night of April 3, and was transferred to the government hospital in Akhisar to receive treatment, after the guards allegedly found him unconscious in the middle of the night, and he underwent surgery on the pretext that he was suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Sevinç’s family has been waiting in front of the hospital for several days, when the soldiers told them around 11:00 this afternoon that he had been martyred. His body was taken to the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

"They put my father in a single cell and killed him there. They did not give us any information, they do not tell us how he died, nor what happened to him Soldiers, not the doctors, informed us that he had died,” Berivan Sevinç, daughter of Mehmet Sevinç, told the Mezopotamya Agency.

63-year-old Muhammed Sevinç was arrested in 1992, then sentenced to life imprisonment on political charges.

During his detention, he was transferred between the prisons of Siirt, Dilok, Trabzon and Kandir.

In the end, they took him to Akhisar prison in 2018.

Worth to note that his family was unable to visit him two years ago, under the pretext of the Corona pandemic.

It is reported that he is the father of three children.
