Shingal Autonomous Administration council condemns the construction of the wall

Autonomous Administration Council in Shingal issued a statement in which representatives of Shingal institutions participated, in which they condemned the construction of the wall between Shingal and Rojava.

Since mid-March, Iraqi army has been building a concrete wall on the border between Rojava and Shingal and reinforced it with thermal cameras and barbed wire, 5 km deep inside the lands of Shingal.

Autonomous Administration Council in Shingal, in its statement, which was read by the co-chairman of the council, Ghazal Rasho, in the garden of leader Abdullah Ocalan in Shingal district, mentioned August 3, 2014 massacre that targeted Yazidi community, and stressed that PKK and guerrilla fighters in Kurdistan were the ones who fought against ISIS and rescued them from genocide.

The council mentioned in its statement: "Now Iraqi army is building a concrete wall between Rojava and Shingal, where, during the massacre of Yazidi community, PKK fighters opened a humanitarian corridor along the border and saved thousands of Yazidis and other components in Shingal from extermination at that time."

The statement noted that Shingal and its people have known their will and strength thanks to the philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and Shingal is no longer the same as it was before, and continued: "We, as Yazidi community and all the other components in Shingal, live together according to a free and democratic life. This achievement was also made possible thanks to the philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan and Kurdistan Workers Party."

Autonomous Administration Council in Shingal condemned the construction of the wall. And in their statement, they said that they see the border with Rojava as the only way to save them from all kinds of attacks. "In the name of Autonomous Administration in Shingal, we condemn the construction of this wall and will never accept it, because the wall cuts off the traffic between the two parties, and this border for us as Yazidis is the only way to save ourselves from all kinds of attacks."

At the conclusion of the statement, the Council called for an end to the injustice that are done to the components of Shingal, calling on the concerned authorities to take serious and humanitarian measures and stances to stop the construction of the wall.
