SDC : liberation of Afrin is a priority to regain Syrian sovereignty

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) affirmed that liberating Afrin is a priority to regain Syrian sovereignty, which was violated by regional and international powers.

The Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement on the 4th anniversary of the occupation by the Turkish occupation and its backed- mercenaries.

The statement read

" The Turkish state launched an aggression against Afrin on January 20, 2018, and after 58 days the people of Afrin, the People's Protection Units, the Women's Protection Units and the Asayish forces proved peerless resistance in the modern history .

The Turkish army and its affiliated terrorists whose numbers are estimated at more than 50,000, occupied the city of Afrin, where they used dozens of planes and hundreds of tanks, in addition to internationally prohibited weapons, through which they committed war crimes against humanity."

The statement added, "The Turkish aggression left majority of the people of Afrin emigrating from their land, homes, and olive trees.

The years of occupation also left catastrophic consequences on Afrin, its history along with looting, killing, kidnapping and demographic change processes."

The statement stressed, " We in the Syrian Democratic Council call for an immediate end to Turkey's occupation of Afrin, we reiterate that the issue of liberating Afrin has priority not only in Syria but the entire region.

The statement called on "the United Nations to assume its responsibilities in the safe return for IDPs of Afrin, and expelling all occupiers from it.
