4th Division targets vehicles carrying foodstuffs for Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood

Elements of the Fourth Division of the Damascus Government opened fire yesterday evening, Saturday, at vehicles carrying foodstuffs for the people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, which are besieged by the Damascus Government in Aleppo, and prevented them from crossing.

Last night, the southern outskirts of Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood witnessed several skirmishes between elements of the Fourth Division of the Damascus Government and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish).

Elements of the Fourth Division have been preventing the passage of foodstuffs and fuel to the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods for more than two years as part of the siege policies imposed on the al-Shahba, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods pursued by the Damascus Government.

A number of eyewitnesses, who preferred not to be named, said that elements of the Fourth Division directly targeted vehicles loaded with foodstuffs and opened fire on civilians and passing vehicles, in addition to targeting the Jazira checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood.

The witnesses pointed out that the Internal Security Forces responded to the sources of fire in accordance with the principles of legitimate defense, and worked to protect civilians near the checkpoint.
