Journalists, the Voice of Resistance

On 20 January 2018 a ground offensive was undertaken by the Turkish occupation forces into Afrin the biggest of its kind in Syria by a foreign power since the Golan Heights was occupied in 1967 by Israeli forces. On the front of 165 km Turkish armed forces and its mercenary groups initiated an onslaught into Syrian territory in Afrin after Russian forces withdrew from the bases it were occupying.

From the other part, the war declaration against Afrin was decisive for one of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria where YPG and YPJ fighters fought intrepidly  in addition to thousands of civilians that stood side to side with the armed forces that lasted for 58 days against the NATO second army.

Media outlets were a vital instrument in the Middle East after the Arab Spring that conveyed the truth to the outside world.

Zakariya Sheikh, a Ronahi TV correspondent says:'' when the Turkish onslaught was commenced a mass media campaign was embraced by Turkish media to give legitimacy to the occupation of lands. '' the Turkish occupation state, says Zakariya, adopted very high advanced weapons and technology and all destructive weapons. Turkish drones used to target anybody was moving''. 

Zakariya covered the battles on Mount Asem in the Raco district on the fictional border between the Northern Kurdistan and Afrin.  

Eghid Roj also covered the Afrin battles in a number of districts and villages on Afrin.

Eghid says media is the second decisive factor in the Age Resistance. Coverage played a vital role in displaying the reality of battles undertaken by military forces and people and in showing the barbarity of the Turkish occupation forces that targeted all internet lines and isolated the region from the whole world.

Eghid revealed in the isolation imposed in Afrin both Sherawa and Mobata were targeted by chemical weapons in addition to many massacres. Turkish atrocities were barbaric. But Turkish atrocities went on and the human rights associations remained silent and all parts that claim human rights''.

Eghid said the resistance performed by people in camps in Shahba necessitates another big effort to show the reality of our resisting people. We have a big burden to show th reality of Turkish barbarity to the international public opinion''.
