Future Syria Party: Turkish occupation of Afrin must be ended and referred to international courts

On the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the start of the Turkish occupation attack on Afrin, the Future Syria Party made a statement, in the presence of dozens of party members in Raqqa, and party head Ibrahim Al-Qaftan.

The statement was delivered by the Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party, Siham Daoud, saying:

"The 20th of January of 2018 marks the fourth anniversary of the start of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries' attack on the city of Afrin, with 72 warplanes, and they used all internationally prohibited heavy and light weapons, and destroyed more than 185 service, health and archaeological sites."

The statement added, "The people of Afrin demonstrated an unparalleled heroic resistance that lasted 58 days, during which they showed the most wonderful epics of heroism and redemption in the most difficult circumstances."

Since the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries attacked and occupied the city of Afrin with the complicity of Russia and the forces of global hegemony, the occupation continues to commit its crimes against humanity and to practice all kinds of systematic ethnic and cultural genocide, including kidnapping, killing, looting of property, and the destruction of historical places and religious temples that aim to change its historical, cultural and societal identity. through demographic change and forced displacement.

The statement added, "The city of Afrin was a model of democracy, safer and more stable, distinguished by its cultural diversity and coexistence. It gathered all components of the Syrian people, when the war was raging in other regions, which fragmented and divided into areas belonging to rival and fighting factions and organizations. It was the ideal model before the occupation."

The statement stressed, "Four years, and the Turkish occupation has continued to practice brutal violations and all kinds of crime, violence, kidnapping, looting and seizure, which are not related to any moral and emotional standards, and amid dubious international silence, and express the intentions of the Turkish aggression to impose Turkification policy on the region and consolidation the occupation in Syria and its division, and obstruct the path of consensus." among the Syrian people.

The statement pointed out, "We in the Future Syria Party appreciate the stances of our steadfast people and their historical resistance in the al-Shahba camps, which did not weaken its pace despite the suffering and the difficult and harsh humanitarian conditions, and we pledge to raise the level of struggle and resistance and consider the liberation of Afrin, Ras al-Ain, Idlib, Tal Abyad, Azaz, and all areas occupied by the Turkish fascist state, it is a fateful and existential issue.

The statement stressed, "We will work hard with all legitimate and available capabilities and means to expose the crimes of the Turkish occupation, which have reached the level of war crimes. The return of our people to their lands and achieving stability, peace and security is one of the basic demands of our party and the preservation of Syria's land and people."

The statement called on all national and democratic forces, the international community and human rights organizations to "act responsibly to end the Turkish occupation of Afrin and the rest of Syria, ensure the safe return of IDPs and refugees, refer the perpetrators to international courts, develop radical solutions to the Kurdish issue, and include the rights of the components of north and east Syria in the desired constitution for a future Syria." Finding a political solution to end the Syrian crisis through Syrian dialogue and bringing Syria to a democratic, pluralistic, decentralized state.
