International Conference on Mesopotamian Religions and Beliefs call for bringing religion back to its true essence

The speeches which delivered during the Conference stressed the need to restore religion to its true core based on a historical and scientific analysis of reality.

Activities of the Conference are continuing, in presence of religious and political figures from all over North and East Syria, the Commissioner of the American International Committee for the Protection of Religious Freedom Nadine Menza, the co-chair of the Democratic Society Movement Gharib Hesso, and the spokeswoman for the Syrian Women’s Council Lina Barakat, the joint head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Department The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria Abdul Karim Omar, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration in the Jazira region, Nazeera Korea and Talaat Younes, the co-chair of the Health Authority in North-East Syria, Joan Mustafa, the co-chair of the Syriac Union Party, Sanharib Barsoum, and representatives of the Yazidi House in the al-Jazeera region.

The conference opened with speech of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria delivered by the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Abdul Karim Omar, who stressed that: "Due to the great sacrifices of our martyrs, we managed to protect thousands of the Yazidi people, and the people of NE Syria, we defended the region." In order to preserve the values and principles of all components.

Omar explained that the Turkish occupation state wanted to exploit the crises in Syria and region,by saying, "Turkey intervened in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Egypt, since the beginning of Rojava revolution, it has launched attacks on the region and its components, starting from its direct support for Jabhat al-Nusra and up to ISIS." After defeating ISIS, it intervened by itself with the radical and terrorist factions where committed crimes in Serêkaniyê, Girê Spî and Afrin, through systematic demographic change, which led to the displacement of thousands of people of NE Syria.

Omar pointed out that "Turkey targeted the Kurds, Christians, Yazidis, and Arabs, its latest crimes yesterday when it targeted Kobane and injured dozens."

Abdul Karim Omar explained that "they are now seeking to build a democratic, pluralistic, decentralized Syria that accommodates all."

Muhammad Al-Gharzani pointed to" create spaces for joint cooperation and collective action to strengthen the relationship between human beings, rejecting all forms of religious, sectarian, political and national strife, and paying attention to civil peace based on concept of full equality in citizenship."

Al-Gharzani expressed his deep sorrow at the crimes which targeted the region's heritage: "We have been afflicted by the horrors that have occurred against humanity and from desecration and distortion to lofty values that abound in our civilizational heritage, in which have been sanctified and nurtured by heavenly messages and tolerant laws."

Al-Gharzani stressed the need for a "civilized dialogue" far from tension and contempt for beliefs of others.

He continued, "We cooperate with institutions and activities that meet goals of this conference in terms of vision and tools to confront all forms of discrimination and grievances ."

Mona Youssef pointed to the basic mission of religions, by saying "The temples, churches and mosques were places of education and discussion of social issues, but we see that with time they have turned into places where thought and hate speech are spread and podiums for praising the sultans and owners of power and money."
