​​​​​​​Tension in As-Suwayda …Unidentified persons the target police HQ’s building

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that, after midnight Friday-Saturday, unknown persons targeted the police command building in the city of As-Suwayda, with a rocket-propelled grenade, with mortal shell, without information about casualties, this comes in light of the Damascus Government’s continued alertness in the city, by deploying snipers on the roofs of government buildings, and strengthening the fortifications with earth berms.

SOHR had published on December 21^st, that the city of As-Suwayda witnessed a cautious calm after fierce clashes, following an attack carried out by local armed factions on the police command building in the city, which lasted for about 4 continuous hours, which resulted in the killing of element of the Damascus Government forces and the injury of two others.

According to the observatory’s sources, the attack came as a response by the local factions, to the killing of a leader of the local factions last Monday morning, from the city of Shahba.

According to the observatory, on December 20^th, a security element affiliated with the Damascus Government forces was killed and a captain was seriously injured, as a result of rocket-propelled grenades, coinciding with renewed clashes in the police headquarters building in As-Suwayda.

According to the sources, members of the local factions are targeting the headquarters of the Damascus Government, in retaliation for the killing of a leader of the local armed groups in As-Suwayda.

The general public of the family of the "people of the dead" in Jabal Al-Arab and the Diaspora issued a statement condemning the killing of the young man, and announced not to accuse any party or group whatsoever until the results of the criminal investigation appeared.
