Disagreements within the ranks of the mercenaries supported by Turkey

Internal disputes erupted between the "Ahrar al-Sharqiya" mercenaries supported by Turkish occupation and is included in the US sanctions list, which led to the defection of " Lewa'a al-Muntasir" mercenaries from their ranks.

According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, that internal disputes erupted within "Ahrar al-Sharqiya" mercenaries supported by the Turkish occupation.

It pointed out that the these disputes between the leaders of Turkey's mercenaries appeared to the public, as the mercenaries of "Lwa'a al-Muntasir" affiliated with "Ahrar al-Sharqiya" mercenaries announced their defection and published an official statement.

"Ahrar al-Sharqiya" mercenaries include about 2,500 mercenaries, most of whom are from eastern region of Syria. and is considered one of the most prominent mercenary groups in Turkey, and includes leaders who were formerly ISIS mercenaries, some of whom are of Iraqi nationality.

In June 2021, US Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on Turkey's "Ahrar al-Sharqiya" mercenaries for committing crimes against civilians, and imposed sanctions on two mercenary leaders.

US Treasury said: "Ahrar al-Sharqiya has committed numerous crimes against civilians, especially the Syrian Kurds, including awful killing, kidnapping, torture, and confiscation of private property, and the organization has included former members of ISIS in its ranks".
