HPG spokesman: ISIS attacks on Başûr are part of Turkey's plans

The spokesman for the Media Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) Serdar Yektaş explained that the movements of ISIS mercenaries in Başûr (South Kurdistan) are part Turkish occupation plans against Kirkuk, stressing that they are fully prepared to defend of Kirkuk's people.

In an exclusive statement to Firat News Agency , Sardar Yektaş, said "It is true, there are movements of ISIS mercenaries in vicinity of Kirkuk, which turned into attacks led to a number of martyrs among civilians and Peshmerga, on this occasion, we offer our condolences to the martyrs families and our people in southern Kurdistan, ISIS terrorists who were defeated by the Kurdish fighters resistance, re-started its attacks against our Kurdish people, that raises suspicion and concern".

He added, "In my opinion, these movements are inseparable from Turkish occupation plans against Kirkuk. When we draw attention to the statements and actions of some affiliated with the Turkish state who were organized in these areas, understand the situation more." Yektaş affirmed their readiness to defend Kirkuk, by saying "Of course we will do that, we will do our job in protecting and defending it, we will sacrifice our lives for it, as the People's Defense Forces, we are ready." Because we protect our people in Kirkuk, as in 2014, how we did our job, there are no obstacles for us to do our job now".

About using of the International coalition weapons by Kurdistan Democratic Forces against guerrilla instead of ISIS, Yektaş explained, "Unfortunately, this information spread within public opinion is correct. This large military force could have been used against the real enemies of the Kurdish people, not the guerrilla fighters."

Because it does not serve the Kurdish people cause , this should be realized, with such a massive force and military means unable to strike ISIS, but small groups can do that as the People's Defense Forces with its modern style and tactic.

During visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Siirt, he subjected to an assassination attempt by planting an explosive device in one of the Turkish police cars , the Turkish media accuses Guerilla fighters of carrying out this operation.

In this context, Yektaş denied any connection between their forces and the alleged assassination attempt, he said "We have nothing to do with this bombing at all. It is possible that the AKP carried out this scenario, while its fascist regime on the verge of collapse, they are trying to show this regime and the AKP as a victim. And they did this to put it differently on the agenda, they say that the bomb weighs 1.5 kilos, everyone knows that this weight of explosives cannot affect the President of the Republic’s armoured car, this is for propaganda only".
