Turkish occupation shelling rips a number of tents in IDPs camps

Since the early hours of last Friday, the occupying army and its mercenaries stationed in the occupied areas of Afrin and Azaz have bombed several villages in Shara and Sherawa districts and Shahba canton, including the al-Awda Camp, which houses hundreds of Afrin IDPs.

The bombing of the Turkish occupation focused on the villages of “Mara’naz, Shawargha, Shawargha Castle, Kashtaar, Malikiyah” in Shara district, the villages of “Soganka, Aqiba and Harsha, Binna, al-Ziyara, and al-Awda Camp” in the Shirawa district, and the villages of Deir Jamal and the center of Tel Rifaat district in Shahba district.

According to residents of the region, from the early hours to the late night, more than 200 rocket shells were exposed to the area, damage to civilian property and the tearing down of a number of tents of Afrin IDPs in al-Awda Camp.

 Citizen Delevan Ibish, who lives in al-Awda Camp, said: "The Turkish occupation began with the targeting of several villages in Shara and Sherawa districts and Shahba canton, as well as three rocket shells that tore through a number of tents."

Delevan continued by asking: "Isn’t the Turkish occupation satisfied with displacing us from Afrin so that it targets us in the camps to displace us again? This is not the first time, in four years, we have been like this."

Citizen Jawdat Dawood, speaking about the first moments of targeting the camp perimeter, said: "We were sitting in front of our camp safely and we don't know how several rocket shells landed in the perimeter of the camp, and all the shrapnel flew over our tents and tore a number of them.”

The girl, Kali Mustafa, who was hit in the head by the remnants of the shell, said: "We were in our tent watching TV, and suddenly I was hit on the head by a strong blow, thank God, it passed safely."

The girl, Kali noted: "This is not the first time we have been bombed, and every time missiles have been dropped on the main road and in the middle of the village, but this time they have fallen beside our camp and spread fear in us."

For his part, the co-chair of the Council of al-Awda and Shahba Camps, Cegerxwîn Sheikho, has commented on the shelling of al-Awda Camp:” the objective of the Turkish occupation to target the camps is to empty from its inhabitants and displacing them again.”

In his speech, he criticized the international community's silence, "whose imprint confirms its partnership with the Turkish occupation in targeting the displaced in the camps."

He concluded his speech, by appealing the international society and UN to assume its responsibilities in the protection the IDPs from the Turkish occupation shelling.
