​​​​​​​Nasso warns of turning occupied areas into another Sanjak of Alexandretta

Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, together with its MIT intelligence agencies, have escalated their crimes against the indigenous people of Afrin at all levels and have committed the most heinous crimes against civilians, as well as demographic changes, looting of civilian property and the seizure of the good of the region.

The co-chair of the Afrin Canton Council, Mohamed Nasso, told ANHA: "Since their occupation of the city of Afrin, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries have continued to carry out various types of crimes against indigenous residents remaining in their villages."

As the olive season began, the Turkish occupation was accelerating the theft and looting of the crops of the displaced Afrin people, who could not leave their homes.

Nasso added that the occupation practised a policy of coercion against the indigenous people of Afrin and was besieging them in order to force them to leave their homes with a view to completing the process of demographic change in the region.

He drew attention to the abduction of civilians, especially women, by Turkish intelligence services and mercenaries, and the practice of all kinds of crimes and violations against them, including torture and murder, with a view to reducing their strangulation and imposing royalties on them.

He condemned the silence of the international community regarding the crimes and violations committed by the Turkish occupying state and its mercenaries against civilians in the occupied canton of Afrin. He called on the international community to take a serious stand and hold Turkey accountable for its crimes in the occupied territories, in particular the occupied canton of Afrin.

He went on to say: "The Turkish occupation, after having completed the construction of dozens of settlements, is now settling the families of mercenaries in those settlements."

"The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries continue to destroy and steal archaeological sites in Afrin with a view to obliterating the culture of the region and separating the occupied canton of Afrin from the rest of the Syrian territory."

He noted to the crimes and violations in general in the occupied canton of Afrin, in terms of imposing Turkish language on schools and making it an official language, as well as imposing Turkish currency and changing the names of villages and towns and replacing them with Turkish names.
He noted that, with a view to completing the process of demographic change in Syrian territory, Turkey was threatening to fight in the north and east of Syria, particularly the Tal Riffat district Shahba canton, with a view to the Sanjak of Alexandretta scenario.

The co-chair of the Afrin Canton Council, Mohamad Nasso, concluded his speech by emphasizing that "Turkey is an occupying state in Syria, and society must realize its truth, as it aims to remain within Syrian territory and uses all methods to extend its life in Syrian geography."
