Gökay: Countries that supply arms to Turkey are complicit in genocidal attacks

 The Turkish occupation army has been carrying out occupation attacks in the areas of Avaşîn, Zab and Metîna since last April 23, while the guerrillas are conducting a heroic resistance.

 The occupation, which failed to repel the historical resistance of the HPG's Guerilla fighters, used chemical weapons before the eyes of the world.  This is not the first time, as it has been waging war against guerrillas for 40 years, committing crimes against humanity using chemical weapons. It used these weapons in Afrin and Serêkaniyê during the occupation attacks against NE Syria.

 A 2011 report by the Amed chapter of the Human Rights Association (ÎHD) showed that the occupying Turkish state had used chemical weapons.

 In 1997 192 countries signed an agreement banning the "production, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons," but despite the ban, these examples show that the occupying Turkish military is not abiding by the agreement.  The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) monitors this convention.

 The deputy of the German Left Party, Gökay Akbulut, spoke to our agency about the Turkish occupation attack on Southern Kurdistan, the use of chemical weapons and the international powers' disregard for chemical weapons.

 Akbulut called for an end to the attacks on Southern Kurdistan and said that they had submitted questions to the federal government about the inhumane attacks and the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish state, and added, "We asked what information the federal government has on this issue and from where the chemical weapons came from."  As a country in the European Union, we have asked Turkey to explain as soon as possible where it obtained these weapons."

 'The new government must clarify its stance against the Turkish ststate

Akbulut noted that the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Green Party and the Free Democrats, who decided to rearrange Germany after the departure of the Merkel government, should take a clear position against the attacks of the Turkish occupation, and said in this regard, "We will continue to work with the Social Democratic Party, the Green Party and the Democratic Party.  The Liberals as well as with other institutions to take action against the attacks of the occupying Turkish state.We will prepare a proposal against the attacks of the Turkish state.In this regard, great responsibility falls on the shoulders of the Green Party and the Social Democratic Party, the partners of the new German government.

 'The Turkish state is attacking according to NATO's war policy'

 Noting that the Turkish state is attacking southern Kurdistan in line with NATO's dirty war policy, Gokay Akbulut said, "The Turkish state has been systematically implementing the dirty war plan for months. At this stage it is very important to form a public opinion against the attacks of the Turkish state, NATO and the new German government.  According to the response we will receive to our last proposal, we will present the issue of the occupation’s attacks to the Human Rights Committee, and in the first session of Parliament we will continue to expose the occupation’s attacks against Southern Kurdistan and the use of chemical weapons.”

 Gokay Akbulut pointed to the need to build public opinion against the attacks of the occupying Turkish army on southern Kurdistan and said: "Everyone must act against the inhuman crimes of the Turkish state and its use of chemical weapons. Concrete measures must be taken to hold Turkey accountable for its use of chemical weapons."

 'Relationships with the Turkish state must be investigated'

 Gokay Akbulut stated that the new German government should re-evaluate its relations with the Turkish state and end arms sales agreements. He added about this: "The Turkish state's army uses weapons of NATO and European countries in the wars it is waging in Turkey, Kurdistan and the Middle East, and it commits crimes against humanity with these weapons, and countries  The one that supplies the Turkish state with weapons is participating in the war and genocide, and we in the Left Party will continue to demand everywhere that the Turkish state be prosecuted for war crimes and demand the cancellation of arms sales agreements to Turkey.”

 The PDF had issued a statement on the use of chemical weapons, saying: "We managed to reach the camp where the captured soldiers are being held in Sian District of Gary, and despite the passage of three days, there was a strong smell of chemical gases in the camp and its surroundings. He could not  One of the entrances to the camp due to the use of chemical weapons by the fascist Turkish army, the camp was bombed with prohibited chemical weapons, which constitutes a war crime. It is likely that the people in the camp were shot after being killed with chemical weapons."

 A group of writers and academics launched a signature campaign on the website against the attacks of the Turkish occupation on southern Kurdistan.

 Signatures collected as part of the campaign will be sent to UN Secretary-General Antonio Manuel de Oliveira Guterres, US House Speaker Nancy Patricia Pelosi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Joe Biden.  Iraqi President Barham Salih, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abu al-Khayat, President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, Speaker of Parliament  South Kurdistan Region, Rowaz Faiq.
