Faruq al-Mashi: Euphrates water status implies unbearable catastrophe

In an interview carried out by ANHA, Co-chair of the Social Affairs Committee and Work in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria Faruq al-Mashi focused on the latest meeting held in the city of Hasaka on 27 September the last saying that its resounds were echoed internationally that verified encroachments carried out by the Turkish occupation state upon the Syrian people to whom it claims friendship. Al-Mashi said the meeting showed the fake allegations made by Turkey and its aspirations in the region via weaponising the water resources whenever it fails militarily and politically. 

Al-Mashi confirmed Turkey never abides by international conventions regarding water quotas though these were ratified by the United States giving the 1987 trio convention on sharing the water quotas. Turkey knows that the Euphrates River is the main artery of life for the Syrian people in particular. 

Al-Mashi went on to shed some light on the exploitation by Turkey of the Elok Water Station depriving hundreds of thousands of people of drinking water in the city of Hasaka home to thousands of IDPs '' it is unethical weapon to break the will of people and subvert its determination'', he said.

Al-Mashi warned against coming disasters due to the water reduction of the Euphrates River whose current situation implies grave catastrophes regarding both agriculture and livestock that impinges upon every aspects of life adding more burdens to the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to look for other energy sources and to compensate people.

Al-Mashi lashed out at the international community that keeps itself away calling on it to put pressure on Turkey to give Syria its share in the Euphrates water holding it accountable.
