After bringing the Turkish occupation of the families of Iraqi and Afghan ISIS mercenaries to Serêkaniyê, Turkey seeks to change the demographics under the guise of organizations and associations to spread extremist thinking in the occupied areas.

On June 25th, 2021, the Turkish occupation established Chechen associations, under the guise that they were a "charity" into the occupied area of Serêkaniyê, and opened a headquarters for them under the name "Kafkasya Charity "

With the support of the Turkish occupation state, footage of the opening of the Chechen Association called " Kafkasya Charity " on social media.

The flags of ISIS mercenaries also appeared inside Serêkaniyê city during a protest on October 20th calling for a boycott of French goods, confirming the presence of ISIS mercenaries in Serêkaniyê.

Differences and fighting between mercenaries

In addition, clashes between mercenary groups erupt in Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî and explosions occur in these areas.

the co-chair of the Girê Spî District Council Hamid Al Abd spoke about it: "This riots within Turkey's associated groups is caused by differences in the sharing of stolen and royalties imposed on our people. These radical groups are different among themselves, because there is no reformist thought. Most of these groups are remnants of ISIS and Jabhet al-Nusra, they are operating under supervision of Turkish state, they are mercenaries, and they proved that with conclusive evidence when Erdogan sent them to Libya and the Karabakh region for getting money $."

On the ongoing operations and bombings in the region, Al Abd explained: "These bombings are made up of radical groups to liquidate each other, create chaos and displace more locals, and mercenaries have displaced most villages on the pretext of establishing military posts for them. What has happened is that they have brought their families from Idlib and other Syrian regions. This riots have continued so far, they have also dismantled the social fabric by arresting the leaders and sheikhs of some clans to humiliate them and force them to accept the occupation and pressure them to empty the area in Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî."

The increase in violations has affected the people's indignation

Violations of the occupation and its mercenaries against the people have increased day by day, prompting the people of the occupied areas to show their blessing despite the intimidation of mercenaries against them.

On 23rd, April 2000, mercenaries of the so-called "Military Police" of the Turkish occupation army stormed and robbed a house in the town of Girê Spî/ Tal-Abyed in al-Shalal neighborhood and attacked a woman from the house by severe beating, after which she was transferred to the hospital.

After that incident, the city experienced public outcry over the practices of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries against civilians.

On 22nd August, the Turkish occupation state, through mercenaries running the local council in Serêkaniyê city, announced the opening of the border gate under the pretext of trading in the Abraha neighborhood of Serêkaniyê city centre after removing of the Turkish state for many houses and had taken control of an area of land belonging to a civilian, causing public resentment in the city.

Serêkaniyê city has seen demonstrations and protests by the people against the policies of the Turkish state and its mercenaries rejecting these practices.

The villages of Ali Bagliya, Suluk, Kormazat, Khirbet Al-Raz, and Hammam Turkman in the Girê Spi region witnessed many demonstrations, and the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries used brutal methods of repression, including kidnapping women and men, starving the people and depriving them of the most basic necessities of life.

Hamid Al - Abd noted that, after the occupation of the areas, "the Turkish occupation displaced the indigenous people. The displacement continues through harassment of our people on their land. The main objective is to empty the area from its people."

"Despite arbitrary measures against our people, they hold their land and, through international organizations, demand an end to the Turkish occupation, the removal of mercenaries and the safe return of forcibly IDPs persons.

Al-Abd called on the international community to include all mercenary groups located in Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî on the international terrorism list, as happened with the mercenaries of Ahrar al-Sharqiya, adding: “Our people should not be drawn into what is rumored by the Turkish Government that they are liberators and not occupiers, but all this is to implement his colonial agenda and that for not holding demonstrations against the occupation.

Ways to End the Occupation

On ways to end the Turkish occupation of Syrian territory, Syrian opponent member of the Relations Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council Ali Rahmon said: "We must work with all Syrian parties to press for an end to the Turkish occupation first and for the return of people to their homes and properties.

Rahmon held the international actors in the Syrian file responsible for these crimes and said: "We must work to expose the continuing violations against the population in those areas and throughout the Syrian territory. We must spare no effort to put an end to all occupation of Syrian territory. We will be able to do so only by uniting ourselves as Syrians.
