The Council announced its campaign today through a written statement published on the digital media.

The text of the statement read:

"It's time, freedom for Mr. Abdullah Ocalan!

The forces of global hegemony are still continuing their attacks on all aspirations of a democratic and liberal solution. Perhaps, the most unfair and arbitrary of these attacks was the one against Mr. Abdullah Ocalan, who was expelled from Syria on October 9, 1998, and extradited to Turkey on February 15, 1999, to be imprisoned in Imrali. And while this international conspiracy is in its 23rd year, absolute isolation and extreme torture continues on Mr. Ocalan.

The campaign aims, according to the statement, “We, on behalf of the Kurdistan Digital Media Council, are launching a new campaign against the fascist alliance between the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which, by isolating Mr. Ocalan, aims to implement genocide against the Kurds, And to eliminate all democratic forces.

We will work through all digital mediato reach millions in order to inform them of our common future hopes and of Mr. Ocalan's vision, which is based on democratic and ecological living and rally around the freedom of women. Thus, turning October, which is the beginning of the international conspiracy against Mr. Ocalan, into the month of resistance and struggle.”

The statement mentioned the items on which the campaign will focus, "We insist on:

Escalating the struggle to ensure the health, safety and physical freedom of Mr. Ocalan, through our campaign that will include the virtual world and the field arena, in which various peoples, democratic forces, scientists, intellectuals, artists, politicians and writers from all over the world will participate;

Appealing to all concerned international organizations to assume their responsibilities in parallel with the announcement of the escalation of the unified struggle for freedom and democracy among all participants in this campaign;

Raising the slogan "Freedom for Ocalan" loudly at all moments of the campaign, as a metaphor for the banner of freedom and democracy.

It's time to empower Mr. Ocalan's physical freedom!

It is time to revive hopes in the face of these historical injustices and legal violations!

The most amazing moment and the greatest activity of our campaign, which will continue throughout the month of October, is the launch of the campaign hashtag on 8, 9 and 10 October 2021, as it coincides with the fateful anniversary of the international conspiracy.”

The campaign will be launched, “The campaign hashtag will be launched on October 8 at 20:00 Amed/Diyarbakir time, and at 19:00 Brussels time.”
