Kouchner meeting with AANES: Water shortage is a great and urgent danger

According to the website of the Department of Foreign Relations, the guest delegation was received by the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Abdul Karim Omar, and member of the department's administrative body, Sana Daham.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed important topics, most notably Turkey's cutting off water from the region, the political process, peace talks and Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue, according to the website.

Abdul Karim Omar explained the latest developments for the delegation, noting that the threat and ongoing attacks and violations of Turkish state on NE, Syria, which are being happened on daily basis by Turkish state and its gangs in occupied areas, such as, kidnapped, rape, seizure of civilians' properties and demographic change."

He went on to say" we stress the necessity to reconsider of closing crossing of Al-Yaarubiyah, that prevents entering humanitarian aids to 5 million live in NE, Syria, as well as the situation has been worsened due to the outbreak of COVID 19, there is urgent need to enter vaccine and medical equipment for the residents."

With regard to the International Water Forum, Kouchner stressed "the importance of their participation in this forum, but it was a shock to him that the lack of water here would affect people who would not have enough food and water to drink, and there would not be enough water to grow. This Conference is therefore a real warning in telling everyone that it is an international problem, and that will have an impact on both Syria and Iraq as well.

In his turn, he stressed the importance of defending the right of civilians to water, since no one knew what was happening in the region.
