Yazidi human rights defender warns Yazidis not to fall into trap of PDK in parliamentary elections

 Iraq is preparing to enter early parliamentary elections on the 10th of next October, to elect the House of Representatives, after they were postponed by the Iraqi Council of Ministers on the 19th of last January, at the request of the Electoral Commission, which was supposed to be held  on the 6th of last June.

 The Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party and the Kurdistan Democratic Party are preparing to enter these elections through candidates for each party independent of the other, given the actions of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and its complicity with the Turkish occupation and its exclusivity in power and the administration of southern Kurdistan, and its marginalization policy towards the rest of the other Kurdish parties, and the withdrawal of its military forces from  Shingal in 2014, and his entry into the Kurdistan referendum, which led to the departure of the Kurdish province of Kirkuk from the administration of southern Kurdistan at the time.

 Yazidi human rights defender, Tariq al-Yazidi, explained to our agency that they still remember the massacre that took place against the Yazidis in Shingal, and said: "When ISIS mercenaries entered the Shingal areas, the KDP forces withdrew from them at the time, leaving them to be killed, looted and robbed there."

 The Yezidi Kurds lack confidence in the KDP;  As a result of his withdrawal from Shngal when ISIS mercenaries attacked it in August 2014, and its complicity with the Turkish occupation in the attack on the legitimate defense areas in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan), not to mention the targeting of national figures and militants on its lands.

 Jurist Tariq al-Yazidi added about the Democratic Party's policies that affect the reality of the Kurds, saying: "Once again, the KDP is backing the Turkish occupation in attacking Başûr (Southern Kurdistan), and making way for the occupation to occupy the region."

 With the approach of the Iraqi parliamentary elections of the House of Representatives, the KDP is clearly close to the Yazidi community, through frequent visits to some figures close to the party.

 On this, human rights defender Tariq al-Yazidi said during his speech, "The KDP's closeness to the Yezidi people with the approach of the elections aims to obtain the largest possible number of Yezidi votes."

 He continued, "This is considered a contradiction. Where is yesterday and where is today?"

 At the end of his speech, Tariq al-Yazidi stressed that "the Yezidi people should be wary of this rapprochement, and not vote for the KDP's candidates, but rather vote for their true representatives who are in Shingal and defended it."

 The Yazidi human rights defender pointed to the possibility of a return to what happened in Shingal in 2014, in the event of voting in favor of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the Iraqi parliamentary elections scheduled for October 10.
