Department of Foreign Relations receives a Swedish delegation 

The delegation was received by the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Abdul Karim Omar, Vice-President Fanar Al-Kait, Zozan Anas from the Women's Protection Units Relations Office and the Vice-President of the Women's Authority in Al-Jazera Region Sabah Shabu.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the situation in Syria, in particular the situation in North, East and Syria, and the Syrian political process. Emphasis was placed on the need to resolve the crisis in Syria in accordance with international resolutions, especially Resolution 2254, with the participation of all components of the Syrian people.

During the meeting, the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Abdul Karim Omar said, “Turkish threats and military operations continue on the region and are constantly targeting safe areas, and there are targeting of new areas in the recent period, which led to a wave of displacement from those areas, and violations continue in the occupied areas before. Turkey and its affiliated factions from killing, raping, seizing civilian property and demographic change.”

Omar also added: “The region suffers from great challenges, and the most important is terrorism, and the sleeper cells that still carry out operations, so there is a need for continued coordination between the Autonomous Administration and the Global Coalition to confront these cells, in addition to that these areas suffer from A stifling economic crisis if the international community does not support these areas economically, it will be an opportunity for ISIS to reorganize itself.

They also discussed the situation of the camps, especially the al-Hol camp, where there are daily killings and training for children on terrorism and the need to build rehabilitation centers in the camp.

For his part, Ambassador Frederik expressed his happiness with the fruitful talks with the Autonomous Administration, thanking it for its cooperation in all matters and said: “In the beginning, I would like to thank you for these interesting discussions today on regional issues and the fight against terrorism.”

He added: “On behalf of the Government of Sweden, we very much appreciate what the region's sacrifices they have made in the fight against terrorism. We consider you as our partners and we stand shoulder to shoulder in this fight. This is a very important message that I want to convey to you.

We understand the very difficult situation you are facing and we are very happy to cooperate with you to address these issues out of trust and cooperation.”

At the end of the meeting, a number of children and women from ISIS families were handed over according to an official handover document signed by both sides.
