​​​​​​​TEV-DEM holds Iraqi Government, UN responsible for Turkey's crimes in Shengal

Movement for Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) issued a statement to public opinion regarding the Turkish occupation targeting of Shengal by UAVs, resulted in the assassination of Saeed Hassan and two fighters were with him, injuring 3 others, the statement reads as follows:

At a time in which the Yazidi community decry the Farmans and plots that are being hatched against Yazidi will, at most stages in the history of Ottoman rule to date, the last of which Shengal massacre that committed by IS/Daesh and repeated assassinations' operations against vanguards of Yazidi figures that carried out by Turkish UAVs and air raid, which clearly reveal its continued support for terrorism.

Several days ago, the Yazidi community recalled the martyr Mam Zaki Shengali and his companions, the martyrs of Kocho village and all the martyrs of the massacre that killed tens of thousands of these Yazidi Kurds became one of the most important values and will of the Yazidi society. It seems that the Turkish occupation has not endured the development of society as a promotion of the principles and systems of democratic society and the legitimate defence of historical moral values and culture.

What the fascist Turkish occupation state did yesterday by targeting Shengal again and assassinating a leading Yazidi figure, the martyr Saeed Hassan via a UAVs, we consider it a criminal, terrorist and cowardly act by a state within NATO and a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Iraqi state.

This does not discourage Yazidi from the will and moral strength of the Yazidi society, which has chosen the path of resistance and struggle with its own free will, and the Yazidis are among the most important and basic Iraqi components. They defeated terrorism with their own capabilities in order to protect themselves and their values. Iraqi Government must assume its responsibilities towards Yazidi will, protecting them and accepting them, rather than allowing Turkey to use its airspace to strike the Yazidi people whenever want. The recent terrorist attack in Shengal, we hold the Iraqi Government the responsible.

We in the TEV-DEM movement hold the United Nations and its rights organizations responsible for not paying attention to religious and ethnic minorities in the region despite repeated promises and signed documents to protect them. We also appeal to all human rights organizations and civil society to do our humanitarian duty to end terrorism and defeat fascism. "
