Jurist: Turkey must be held accountable for its violations  

Since the beginning of the current year; Turkish occupying state is launching brutal attacks on Southern Kurdistan, using all kinds of heavy weapons in its war against the Guerilla Forces.

Recently, Official statements issued by People's Defence Forces, HPG confirmed that Turkish occupation used chemical weapons in legitimate defence zones in Southern Kurdistan.

Breach the laws and international norms

In this context, lawyer, Mustafa Sheikh Muslim says:" Turkey is hostile the Kurdish people wherever exist, does not respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries, whether Syria or Iraq, and attacks the Kurds everywhere in violating all international laws and treaties."

He noted that all the kinds of heavy weapons and international prohibited chemical weapons had been used against the Kurds, that international treaties stipulated to prevent its using at any time or under any circumstances.

Muslim pointed out The Hague Treaty was signed in The Hague 1899, that stipulated to prevent of using chemical weapons.

The Hague agreements include two international treaties were discussed at first time during separate peace conference, ones were held in The Hague in Netherlands; The First Hague Conference of 1899 and the Second Hague Conference of 1907, together with the Geneva Convention, are among the first official texts regulating the laws of war and war crimes in international law.

Adding:" "But we see Turkey breaking that treaty and violating international norms and laws."

'Turkey must be held legally accountable for its violations'

He stressed that the civil society and human rights organizations must take firm decision regarding to Turkish violations and called for investigations into the use of such weapons by Turkey and for its violations.

He did not rule out the Turkish occupation state's use of chemical weapons because of its defeat in its campaigns against the Guerilla Forces, and because it might do anything to eliminate the Kurdish presence in the region.

He called on the state of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government, KRG Kurdistan, to take firm stance towards Turkish violations and stand up to them.

He said that the state of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government, KRG must work in the legal field and address the International Court of Justice to put an end to the Turkish attacks and violations on Iraqi territory under any pretext, as it is known that no country is allowed to violate the sovereignty of any other country.
