​​​​​​​YPG reveals identities of martyrs' vandalized shrine by Turkish occupation in Afrin

The YPG's media center issued a statement revealing the identities of its fighters at the vandalized shrine by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries in Afrin.

The text of the statement stated:

The Turkish occupation state has occupied Afrin for three years. In the occupied areas, the Turkish occupying state commits various forms of inhumane violations before the eyes of the whole world, and works to change its demographics. In the recent period, it has inhumanely sabotaged and destroyed the shrines of our martyrs. On July 14-15, it dug up the tombs of the martyrs and exhumed the remains of the martyrs of the resistance from the shrines.

The Turkish occupying state has exhumed the remains of 71 of our fighters and civilians, who showed great resistance against all forms of Turkish state attacks. The Turkish occupation tried to exploit this event in its own war under the pretext of finding a mass grave.

This shrine included the remains of a number of martyrs whose identities have been confirmed, including 14 YPG1's fighters, 12 YPJ's women fighters, 5 members of the Asayish forces, 3 fighters of the Jabhat Al-akrad, and a fighter from the Self-Defense Forces, 4 civilians. The rest belong to fighters and civilians who rose to the rank of martyrdom, without confirming their identities.

The names of the martyrs at this shrine have already been revealed to the public. And the sacred duty requires us to re-publish the names of the martyrs again. And because what was done against the remains of our martyrs is something that is not accepted by all norms, religions and human values, we assure that we will not stand idly by in the face of these violations.

So far, the Turkish occupation has destroyed and sabotaged the shrine of the martyr Seydo, the shrine of the martyr Rafik and the shrine of the martyr Avesta. No one can remain silent about these practices. Silence in the face of these violations means complacency and submission. We are confident that the peoples of Rojava, northern and eastern Syria, as well as all the peoples of the world will begin to move against the inhuman practices of the Turkish state.
