Hussein Al-Azzam: If international community recognized AA, it would have many positive repercussions

Hussein Al-Azzam indicated that the international community is not ready to recognize the Autonomous Administration (AA), but at the same time he made it clear that recognition of the Autonomous Administration will positively reflect on all Syrians.

Since the Autonomous Administration establishment on January 21, 2014, it has been subjected to fierce military, political, social and service attacks, and it has been excluded from all discussions and meetings held under the pretext of resolving the Syrian crisis.

Member of the Syrian Democratic Council's Public Relations, and one of the first founders of the Democratic Autonomous Administration project, Hussein Al-Azzam, indicated that the Autonomous Administration was established according to a consensus among the society's spectra and components in the region.

Al-Azzam said, "The people of the region were able within a short period of time to establish themselves on the ground in all service, social and military aspects of life."

Despite annoyances, we managed to maintain our existence

Hussein Al-Azzam indicated that the Autonomous Administration now occupies a third of the Syrian territory's area, with a population of 5 million, and stressed, "We cannot say that we succeeded in all that we made. Despite several inconveniences that obstructed our work, we were able to insure security and stability in our areas and maintain our presence."

He explained that the Autonomous Administration is a model and there are several developed countries that follow this model, such as America, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates, and he said, "The Autonomous Administration we announced suits our people in Syria, and it does not call for separation or division of Syria, and in the social contract we emphasized the unity of Syrian land."

No one can remove what has been achieved

Hussein Al-Azzam stressed that the attacks against the Autonomous Administration are the result of certain international positions, especially some neighboring countries, and said, "They have interest to disrupt this project on this land, so the Administration was obstructed and prevented from participating in the Geneva meetings and writing the new Syrian constitution."

Al-Azzam continued, "No one can eliminate what has been achieved on the ground, starting with defending Syria's territory, protecting Syrian lands, eliminating the last stronghold of terrorism in Syria, and preserving Syrian property."

Al-Azzam stressed that the Autonomous Administration project is a peaceful, democratic project that suits all Syrians, and said, "This project is Syrian and for all Syrians, not a project for a particular sect or group. When we proposed the project, we put it forward to all Syrians."

Hussein Al-Azzam stressed pressures and a lobby that puts pressure on the international community and countries close to the Autonomous Administration that have timid positions, and stated, "This lobby pressures even countries close to the Autonomous Administration that are trying to offer us something," without mentioning the parties behind that lobby.

Al-Azzam noted, "If the international community recognized the Autonomous Administration, it would have many positive repercussions, but the international community is not ready to recognize the Autonomous Administration. Recognition must precede a dialogue with the Syrian government because the Syrian government's recognition of the Autonomous Administration paves the way for international acceptance."

There must be a national reconciliation

Al-Azzam stressed the need to hold national reconciliation without conditions on Syrian territory, and said, "We must accept each other as Syrians and engage in dialogue in order to find a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis, and then international recognition will come."

Al-Azzam pointed to the statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on July 2^nd, regarding the need to open dialogues between the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus government, and noted that Russia "is on the Syrian regime side."

If Russia was serious, many scales would change

Hussein Al-Azzam explained, "If Russia was serious, several balances would have changed, including its stance on opening Tal Kocher crossing which we demanded to open for humanitarian reasons; however, Russia insisted on using its veto to close it, and if it was serious in its proposal, it could bring views closer."

Al-Azzam stressed that they are serious and ready for dialogue with the Damascus government, and said, "If the government is serious about issues of unconditional dialogue, and dialogue that leads to serious results, we are ready for that."

Hussein Al-Azzam pointed out that there are several forces that fear the Autonomous Administration project, and said, "When we say Autonomous Administration, we mean decentralization, that is semi-independence in the decision, but this does not satisfy the Damascus government and Turkey which fears to move to its territory, so it launched attacks on the People's Democratic Party (HDP) which advocates this project."

Hussein Al-Azzam stressed that all countries and international, regional parties interfering in Syria do not seek to resolve the Syrian crisis, and said, "Everyone has special agendas in Syria and seeks to implement them, and the Syrian people pay the price and must realize that."
