Council of Martyrs' Families in Kobani condemns encroachment on martyrs' shrines in Afrin

The Council of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates Region issued a statement denouncing the sabotage acts in Afrin by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and their violation of the sanctity of cemeteries and the bodies of the martyrs, and said "there is no difference between Erdogan's mentality and ISIS’."

The suffering of the people of the city of Afrin continues after the Turkish occupation forces and the factions loyal to them took control of their areas, and committed all kinds of violations against civilians, which even the dead were not spared, as the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries recently dug up and destroyed graves.

In this regard, the Martyrs' Families Council in the Euphrates region issued a statement denouncing these "inhuman brutal" acts.

The statement was read in front of the Martyrs' Families Council, in the presence of dozens of members of the Martyrs' Families Council, by the administrator of the Martyrs' Families Council, Ronahi Hajo, and the statement said: "Humanity includes a mass of morals and respect, which the fascist Turkish occupation state disregards as its acts of sabotage in Afrin tells so, but the occupying state has reached the stage of exhuming the bodies of the martyrs from their cemeteries and publishing those pictures on social media.”

The statement indicated: "The mercenaries claim that these are mass graves, but as everyone knows and according to the published photos, the people of Afrin confirmed that this cemetery is a cemetery known as the cemetery of the martyr Avesta, and the bodies were for the martyrs of the Resistance of the Age, and these actions are not new to the archives of the Turkish occupation state which committed such crimes in Girê Spî, Serêkaniyê and Bakur Kurdistan, too; and we witnessed how Turkish planes bombed cemeteries and disrespected the dead and the martyrs.”

The statement added: "The international community is silent on this issue, and according to customs, traditions and the laws of life, the dead and corpses must be respected, but we did not find anyone telling the Turkish occupation state to stop its crimes."

At the end of the statement, the audience chanted slogans commemorating the martyrs and denouncing the actions of the Turkish occupation.
