​​​​​​​Kurdish researcher: PDK okays Turkish attacks on PKK so it justifies Southern Kurdistan onslaught

Since the 23rd of April, the Turkish occupation state is being launching a large-scale attack on Southern Kurdistan with the aim of occupying it, as Kurdistan Democratic Party has begun to deploy its forces to the areas of the People's Defense Forces with the aim of besieging the Guerrilla Forces, declaring its participation with Turkey in the attacks, and in the face of this dirty scheme, the Kurdistan People's Defense Forces are showing heroic resistance.

In this context, ANHA carried out an interview with Kurdish writer and researcher Saleh Bozan  went as follows:

As a Kurdish intellectual, how do you evaluate the Turkish occupation army's attacks against Southern Kurdistan?

Erdogan is suffering from political bankruptcy on the external and internal levels. If, in his early days, he rose on the Turkish political scene as a savior for the Turkish economy and settling disputes with his neighbors, today he has become a destroyer of what he built. Erdogan believes that the lifeboat for him and his party is the intensification of the war against the PKK and the pricing of arrests against the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

As long as Erdogan remains at the helm of the Turkish government, he will repeat the attacks on the PKK and intensify the arrests among the HDP ranks, reverting approach of assassinating Kurdish activists to the Turkish arena again. His survival as a politician is linked to this approach.

What are the repercussions of this attack on Kurds in general?

Perhaps the attack itself will not have significant repercussions on the Kurdish Cause in Kurdistan. But the issue lies in another matter. The Turkish government is fully convinced that it will not be able to eliminate the PKK, neither militarily nor politically; therefore, it resorted to the method of tearing up the Kurdish National Movement in every part of Kurdistan and preventing any strategic understanding among. Unfortunately, Erdogan has achieved some successes in this regard through the cooperation of certain Kurdish parties.

Many regional and Kurdish circles, including the parties of Southern Kurdistan, see that the attack is an implementation of the Millî Pact, while the PDK considers them to be attacks targeting the PKK only. How do you see the position of the Kurdistan Democratic Party?

There may be Turkish dreams of reviving the Millî Pact, but the centers of world power do not allow the maps to be changed at the will of adventurers. There are two objectives of the Turkish government in its attacks on the PKK in Southern Kurdistan; the first and main objective is for the AKP to save itself from falling politically at home. Erdogan seeks through these attacks to numb the Turkish people towards internal economic and political issues and external adventures that have negatively affected the Turkish people.

As for the second one, it is to tear apart the Kurdish movement from within, as previously said, whether at the level of every part or at the level of the whole of Kurdistan. We note the emergence of signs of this rift in the region, as the PDK completely ignores its government coalition partners in its overt and covert relations with the Turkish government. In other words, confidence between the PDK and the Justice and Development Party has become deeper than the trust between it and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Is the PDK really not aware of the reality of this attack?

The PDK has inserted itself into the tunnel of Turkish politics and cannot get out of it. It wants to get the PKK out of the region, but it realizes that it is unable to do so alone. A military war alone against the Guerrilla would have catastrophic effects not only on the Kurdish Cause, but on this party to a greater extent.

Politically, the Kurdish parties in the Regional Government's coalition do not agree with this party's position to open a military battle against the Guerrillas. Hence the agreement of the Kurdistan Democratic Party with the Turkish government to eliminate the PKK from the region held. Since this agreement is reprehensible by the Kurdish people throughout Kurdistan, the PDK is trying to disseminate intense propaganda that the Turkish government is not hostile to Kurds and does not send its army to the region to occupy it or implement the Millî Pact, but rather to fight the PKK. However, this propaganda is so naive that most Kurdish parties inside and outside the region do not advocate.

There are many secret agreements between the Democratic Party and the Turkish state, of which to build Turkish bases in Southern Kurdistan. What are the reasons that prompted the Democratic Party to hold these secret alliances? Does this matter have anything to do with the party's current position on the Turkish attacks?

So far, no document has appeared indicating agreements between the PDK and the Turkish government. But practical actions indicate that there are secret agreements. I believe that the regional constitution and the federal constitution of Iraq do not allow the Regional Government or any party in it to sign such secret agreements. Indications show that the parties of the government coalition and the parliament of the Regional Government are not aware of these agreements. This means, if there are secret agreements between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Turkish government, then it is a violation of the Region's constitution, the federal constitution and the powers of the Region's Parliament and a complete marginalization of its partners in the government coalition.

What is the reason for the Iraqi government's silence regarding the Turkish attacks, or is there a secret agreement between Iraq and Turkey with the aim of eliminating the Kurdish people's gains?

The Turkish government did not approve the Kurdish federation in Iraq, and it is impossible to imagine that the Turkish government accepts co-existence with the Kurdish federation forever. If America lifts its protection on the region now, Ankara, Baghdad and Tehran will agree to liquidate this federation. Since the American protection is still going on, the Turkish government resorts to another method to weaken and eliminate the Kurdish federation in a way that does not anger America. Thus, one of the goals of the Turkish attacks on the PKK in northern Iraq has become to widen the rift between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. I never rule out the complicity of the Baghdad government with the Turkish government in this regard, and Baghdad's suspicious silence on the Turkish invasion of the Region proves this. I also do not rule out Tehran's approval of this Turkish and Iraqi approach against the Kurdish federation.

How do you see the Guerrillas' resistance in the mountains of Kurdistan against the occupation's attacks?

I am convinced that the Turkish government will not be able to eliminate the Guerrillas, either alone or in agreement with the PDK. We know that the Guerrilla will not have the final victory over the Turkish army. But its repulsion of the Turkish army's attacks so far, and its continuous operations against it inside Turkey shake the Turkish government's political and moral entity. We read in the media of Turkish parties and AKP dissidents, as well as in the independent media that almost everyone has come to the conclusion that the Turkish army's war against Guerrilla is a futile war, and that it is inevitable to open up to the Kurdish Cause in Turkey's Kurdistan (Northern Kurdistan). Numerous studies and reports issued by international centers for strategic studies point to this fact.
