Walid Bakr: National unity is a necessity in standing up to attacks

It is two months now, since the Turkish occupation army commenced its occupation attacks on Southern Kurdistan, but so far it has been unable to reach its objectives thanks to resistance put up by the Peoples' Defence Forces, the HPG, fighters.

On the attacks carried out on Southern Kurdistan by the Turkish occupation army and the attitude of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the PDK, ANHA's interviewed head of the Rojavai Kurdistan Intellectuals' Union academician Walid Bakr.

The Turkish State says it is fighting the Kurdistan Workers' Party, but this is a big lie, it's goal is to exterminate the Kurds in the four parts of Kurdistan, and we notably sought it during the referendum held in Southern Kurdistan, the Turkish State stood against the referendum. "

Resistance is the only path to freedom.

"The aim of the Turkish State is to create discord between the Kurds, through various arguments and reasons, and to repeat what the Ottomans have done over the past centuries. Unfortunately, some Kurdish forces acting in their own interests are fooled by these policies of the Turkish State.

'The history of the Turkish State is full of dirty politics'

Walid Bakr said that the history of the Turkish State was full of dirty policies, and he continued "the Turkish State is pursuing conspiratorial and dirty policies against the Kurdish people, and now it is targeting Southern Kurdistan. The Turkish state, through its interests with the PDK, is pursuing the same policies in Southern Kurdistan without any hindrance. We, intellectuals, do not believe that these policies and these participatory policies serve the Kurdish people, but it is their fear that the Kurdistan Democratic Party will send its own troops to war zones, because the forces (Zêrevan, Gulan) are moving in accordance with the designs of the Turkish State and serve these schemes, we and the entire Kurdish people reject the war, and we do not want the Peshmerga to drag the forces of Zêrevan, Gulan.

Walid Bakr concluded that there was an urgent need for national unity, against these occupying attacks "We, the intellectuals and the Kurdish people as a whole, have long called for national unity and its necessity. There is an appeal from the leaders of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, and we hope that the leaders of the Kurdistan Democratic Party will respond to these calls and appeals. Some forces are silent, they must fulfil their responsibilities on the basis of national unity and resolve all problems and contradictions through dialogue.
