AA in Kobane: June 25th massacre becomes focal point

In the presence of dozens of administrators and members of the Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates region, the Girê Spî/Tel Abyad councils, and civil society institutions, the Kobane Canton Council issued a statement today on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of June 25^th, 2015 massacre, perpetrated by ISIS in Barkh Batan village and Kobane city.

The statement was read in Kurdish by Co-chair of the Kobane Canton Council, Leyla Ahmed, and in Arabic by Member of the Administrative Board of Kobane University, Abdel Rahman Dummar. The statement included:

"On this day, the city of the resistance of Kobani witnesses the sixth anniversary of the doomsday that violated the memory of Kobane's people, as the forces of obscurantism attacked Kobane. The brutality of ISIS did not exclude old people, women, or even children. It killed everyone who met its guns in a desperate attempt to spread fear and terror within the safe city.

Its aggression resulted in the martyrdom of hundreds of sons, daughters and elders of Kobane in a massacre recounted by the memory of the Kobane for generations, but it became a focal point and strength, built confidence between the administration and the people and increased determination to confront all attempts to undermine civil peace and co-existence among the peoples of the region. In cooperation with the people, the People's Protection Units (YPG) managed to purge Kobane of terrorist mercenaries, and restored safety to it, thus obstructing all attempts aimed at the systematic displacement of this city whose voice has reached the whole world.

We, in the Kobane Canton Council, offer our sincere respect to the families of the martyrs and the entire people of Kobani, and we bow to the martyrs who drew with their blood the path of liberation.

Glory and immortality to martyrs, shame and disgrace to traitors and mercenaries."

It is noteworthy that the massacre of June 25^th, 2015 left 233 civilian victims from Kobane city and Barkh Batan village, after dozens of ISIS mercenaries infiltrated it.
