Yesterday, the HDP stated in a written statement that an armed person opened fire at the party's building in the Turkish city of Izmir, resulting in the loss of one of its party members, Deniz Poyraz, of life.

The HDP blamed the Turkish authorities and the Interior Ministry in particular for the attack, and said the aim was to intimidate people.

Today, the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) issued a statement, condemning what it described as the heinous crime against HDP will, and called on all human rights, humanitarian organizations and civil society to unite and exert efforts against fascism, its gang represented by the Justice and Development Party and the Turkish Nationalist Party.

The text of the statement included:

"Coinciding with the brutal attacks of the Turkish occupation on Başûr Kurdistan with the aim of eliminating the gains and the will of our people, and its insistence on escalating the war and genocide, despite the heavy military failures and losses it suffered in the face of the People's Defense Forces' resistance and heroisms which greatly affected the Turkish interior and Bakur Kurdistan, the headquarter of the HDP is targeted.

It continued, "It is not surprising that the Turkish fascist gangs circle moved to undermine the will of our people in Bakur Kurdistan and Turkey by attacking the headquarters of the Peoples' Democratic Party in Izmir, and targeting party member Deniz Poyraz by shooting her, which led to her martyrdom. It is a new and organized crime carried out by Turkish fascist cowards in a new way to avenge their losses in the battles of Zap, Avaşîn, Metina and other areas of Kurdistan, bypassing the gangs of Arkankon and Counter-Guerrilla, which Turkey used at will.

The statement added, "Targeting HDP headquarter by Turkish fascist gangs is evidence of the existence of security chaos and the inability to control, and this is what puts Turkey in its most dangerous stage if its gang's actions continue, and it will cause a major transformation among the popular circles in Turkey and Bakur Kurdistan in general."

The Democratic Society Movement confirmed that the aim of Ms. Deniz Poyraz's martyrdom was to target the personality of women and to obliterate their vanguard role among societies. She said, "The crime have not been committed by chance, but rather it is organized and planned, as it came at a time when our Kurdish people are commemorating the twenty-third anniversary of the martyr Sama Yoga."

The statement concluded, "We, in the TEV-DEM, strongly condemn this heinous crime against will of the HDP, which represents all societal components throughout Turkey and Bakur Kurdistan. We also call on all human rights, humanitarian organizations and civil society to unite and exert efforts against fascism, its gang represented by the Justice and Development Party and Turkish Nationalist Party."
