On 23rd June, an airstrike carried out by warplane of the Turkish Occupying State on the village of Haleng, south of Kobani, at 3 km, after which three members of the Kongra Star were martyred: "Zahra Berkel, Hubun Mulla Khalil, and Mother Amina Mohammad Weisi, owner of the house that was bombed."

In commemoration of the second anniversary, the Kongra Star announced a campaign to be launched between 17th and 30th June during a written statement to public opinion.

The statement reads:

"We commemorate Sema Yûce, who was detained in Çankakkale Prison, turned on  March 21st, 1998 into Newroz and was martyred on 17th June 1998 on the 23rd anniversary of her martyrdom. On this occasion, we pay tribute to the resistance of all resistance fighters who have been on hunger strike for 200 days in protest against the severe isolation imposed on leader Ocalan.

When Sema Yûce did her operation in 1998, she was aware of the concept of a conspiracy based on the obliteration and marginalization of the freedom movement and its leadership, which was also against the Guerilla and felt deeply. The operation she carried out was essentially against the personal truth, the organization and the attitudes of the betrayed Kurds.

The allies of the foes who never differ with the reality of the enemy and turn into the ground of the concept of conspiracy. This process, initially for women and men, made it clear that, in the face of attacks by betrayal and enemies, the key to victory and gain is an honest and freedom-demanding stand. The message that Sema Yûce delivered through her operation: Offensive anti - Kurd policies are only being bypassed by an honest and free Kurds solidarity, and today are being overtaken more than ever before. Sema Yûce operation, particularly against policies and practices in Başûr Kurdistan that are detrimental to Kurdish national unity, represents for us a call for the achievement of democratic and honest Kurdish unity.

In her letter, Sema Yûce says, " Kurdish women are core of the Kurdish revolution, every woman can be born from her soil again and can become a spark for this revolution." On the basis of this assertion and her historical faith, we make a case for strengthening and expanding the revolution of women in north and east Syria. As our argument gets bigger and the organization achieves, there are more attacks on the male, authoritarian and state mentality. Our most powerful testimony is the Turkish State's Attack by UAV on 23rd June on Haleng, Kobani, against our leadership. This attack led to the martyrdom of our female companions: Zahra, Hubun and Mother Amina. These attacks are inseparable from all crimes and the concept of attacks in the world on women's identity and political figures. In many countries of the world, women who struggle with political knowledge are subjected to massive violations and penalties through trials without rights and in prisons or are tried to freeze and end their impact through smear campaigns.

As a Kongra Star, our response to these attacks is to insist on the revolution of women and to continue our struggle for freedom with organized standing and women's politics. This stand in the name of all the women of the Middle East, the women of Syria and all the women of North and East Syria is possible through great struggle and great sacrifices. Haleng 's attack was planned to push us back from our struggle and disperse our stand. On 12th October 2019, Havrin Khalaf, on 14th October 2019, Mother Akida, on 22nd January 2021st, Hind and Saada were killed, and today in Afrin, dozens of women are tortured for the same purpose. The aim of all these killings is to eliminate the struggle of women who possess political knowledge.

On June 23rd is the day of the Haleng massacre, which is the most distinctive example of the wisdom of important men and the State, so as Kongra Star we declare on June 23rd "a day to combat crimes against women's political identities." From now on to every year, 23rd June will be a day to lift the political struggle.

On this basis, we launch our campaign of activities between 17th and 30th June, which will include "Reading the letters of Sema Yûce and Zainab Kunaji, holding seminars on personalities and their struggle, showing short film, holding events in all cities and organizing festivals, opening a photo exhibition of the martyrs of June and holding workshops on violence against women."

Like the Kurdistan people, the people of the Middle East and the peoples of the world who want democracy and freedom in opposition to the regime, we live in historic moments of struggle. As Syrian women go through a crucial historical phase in our lives, the stories of the thousands of heroic women who lived on this Earth tell us the fact that our word, actions, attitude and determination to freedom can write history on this Earth and create a free life, such as Zainab Kunaji, Sema Yûce, Dr. Maryam Hannah from Al-Raqqa, Havrin Khalaf, Leyla Agirî, Zahra Kobani, Sarya Kobani, Malsa Dêrik.

Finally, we call on all young women to participate actively in this campaign and on all women, youth and civil society movements in our regions to support our campaign. "
