SDC Presidential Council discusses latest developments in the region

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) indicated that yesterday the periodic meeting of the "Presidential Council" in the Syrian Democratic Council was held to discuss the developments of the Syrian scene and ways to solve the crisis in the country by uniting the democratic opposition forces and mobilizing energies to end the system of tyranny and achieve the Syrian people's aspirations.

According to SDC, the meeting was attended by the majority of members of the Presidential Council (representatives of parties, political and societal blocs and independent personalities affiliated with SDC), whether those present in the areas of north and east Syria or the rest of the Syrian regions, and also through the Zoom program for the council's members who are outside the country, in ad-Darbasiyah district of Hasakah canton Al-Jazira region.

At the beginning of the meeting, a speech was delivered by Co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Amina Omar, in which she touched on the overall political developments in the Syrian arena, the settlement path, and the obstacles that affect the solution to the crisis in the country.

The members of the Presidential Council unanimously agreed that the presidential elections held by the Syrian regime in the regions under its control were organized unilaterally, and the negotiating process sponsored by the United Nations, based on UN Security Council resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 2254, was not taken into account.

The struggle of local parties and competition among international powers in addition to the imposition of the military option will distance the political solution to the crisis

The participants considered that the continued competition of major international axes to determine the shape and nature of Syria's future, as well as the struggle of local parties in Syria to impose their conditions through military options consistent with the interests of the regional powers interfering in the Syrian issue, in addition to the unwillingness of any party to the conflict to take serious steps to resolve the crisis exclude a political solution in Syria, and show no hopes for a settlement, keeping the conflict open and ongoing.

The members of the Presidential Council expressed their regret for the situation in the country, and that the conflicting local parties, as well as the regional and international ones do not care about the reality of the increasing human suffering of the Syrian people who alone pay the price of economic deterioration and suffer from displacement, all in light of the psychological and health burdens left by the devastating Corona pandemic.

Closure of crossings and blockage of the Euphrates River water constituted a real disaster in the region

What increased the suffering of the residents of north and east Syria is the continued restriction on Al Yarubiyah border crossing with Iraq and the deprivation of more than five million Syrians from the humanitarian aid of the United Nations, as well as Turkey’s withholding of the Euphrates River water and the reservation of Syria's share of the river's water which constituted a real disaster for the region.

The Presidential Council discussed the efforts made by the Syrian Democratic Council through its links and relations with many active parties, as it seeks to unite the forces of the democratic opposition, and it continues to work on developing partnership with various Syrian forces and personalities to reach a unified vision for a way out of the crisis.

The Presidential Council called for promoting the values ​​of co-existence and strengthening the ties among the components in the areas of north and east Syria to block the way for those who stir up sedition, and to launch initiatives on a continuous basis with the aim of strengthening partnership, developing the governance model and improving the population's economic reality."

At the conclusion of the meeting, Co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration, Abd Hamed Al-Muhbash, gave a brief on the overall work of the Autonomous Administration, its budget and the projects it will accomplish during the coming period.
