Kovan: Başûr forces must support popular action against occupation, not hinder it

The Turkish Occupation Army uses all kinds of heavy, sophisticated and even internationally forbidden weapons in its attacks on Başûr, which it launched on April 23^rd, and which the People's Defence Forces (HPG) repelled it.

Earlier, KCK, the Kurdish People's Defence Forces had called for a rise against such attacks targeting the Kurd presence in Kurdistan.

As the continuation of the Turkish offensive continues, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Kurdistan Regional Government and parliament continue to remain silent about the Turkish attacks.

Not only did the PDK refrain from taking an anti-occupation stance, it sent reinforcements on May 30^th, to block the march of human shields aimed at denouncing the Turkish Occupation and its attacks on the territory of Başûr Kurdistan. Journalists were also prevented from pursuing the activity.

On May 3^rd, Başûr Kurdistan organized a march under the slogan "Live the resistance of the Guerilla," which started from the town of Kweh and went towards the area of Bahdinan. However, the KDP forces did not allow the participants access to Asayish Dikli Center, and according to the Preparatory Committee for the event, officials in the Asayish explained to them that "they are awaiting instructions from the Governor of Hewler, Umid Khoshnaf."

Demonstrations should be supported, not impeded '

The Secretary of the Roj Kurdish Democratic Party of Syria, Govan Kanoa, explained that attacks by the Turkish Occupying State headed by Erdogan on Kurdistan areas were not new, and referred to the military bases established by Turkey in Başûr Kurdistan. He said: "Turkey penetrated some 30 kilometres deep into Başûr Kurdistan, causing significant damage to the Bahdinan region and its inhabitants."

Kanoa pointed to the impatience of the Kurds from the occupiers and their accomplices, and said: "Our people throughout Kurdistan can no longer bear these policies, and no longer accept injustice and slavery, because they see the crimes committed by the Turkish Occupying State in the occupied areas, such as Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê."

Kanoa commented on the KDP's actions, especially the latter, and said: "Yesterday's march went out in Başûr Kurdistan towards Bahdinan areas to denounce the Turkish attacks, and the Kurdish parties in Başûr Kurdistan had to support the people, not hinder them; the parties should lead these rallies, and this is the responsibility of each party. In all parts of Kurdistan, because the Turkish Occupying State does not launch attacks against a particular party or ideology, but rather the goal is to exterminate the Kurds, and Kurdish history is a witness to this. Turkey has been carrying out attacks on the Kurds for hundreds of years, launching attacks against us before the establishment of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Kurdistan Workers' Party.
