The Turkish Occupying State has been blocking the water of the Euphrates since 27 January, pumping no more than 200 cubic metres per second of water into Syrian territory, much less than the 500 cubic metres agreed between the Syrian and Turkish Governments in 1987.

The Turkish Occupying State's blocking of the water of the Euphrates River has had a significant impact on the people of northern and eastern Syria, causing catastrophic damage to the population at the agricultural, industrial, environmental, livestock and electricity levels, and draining the dams.

Turkey's deliberate water war is contrary to international values, charters and covenants, to the principles and foundations of the Human Rights Organization and to water agreements, according to jurists and observers

The head of the Kurdistan Fraternity Party, Adnan Kilo, explained in a statement to ANHA's agency, that the Turkish Occupation State always uses the water of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers for political purposes, and violates agreements and treaties concluded between the governments of Damascus and Baghdad.

And Adnan Kilo explained that the blocking of water is considered Turkish war on the Syrian people, and he asked whether there is an agreement between Syria and Iraq with the Turkish Occupation State? Because both countries remain silent about water block.

Kilo noted that there were several agreements between the Syrian side and the Turkish Occupying State, including the 1987 Agreement on the Right of Syria from the Water of the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers and their tributaries. However, the Turkish side did not abide by any agreement, and as long as it was exploiting the water for its political interests and occupation intentions in the region.

Kilo called on the Arab League and the United Nations to break their silence and said that the Arab States were called upon to stand against Erdogan's policy, which violated the sovereignty of two Arab States and waged an inhuman war against millions of people. The United Nations and international community organizations were called upon to act immediately before a humanitarian disaster.
