Administrator of Şengal Council: Without Autonomous Administration; we will face Fermans every day

Since late July and the beginning of August last year, the Şengal Province has witnessed a significant return of displaced families following attacks by ISIS mercenaries. According to the Commission for the Reception of Returnees of Autonomous Administration in Şengal Council, more than 4,000 families have returned to the villages and parts of Şengal in just two months.

The southern villages of Şengal Mountains had been empty for more than 6 years, after the massacres of their people, but a reconstruction movement had begun in those villages.

In his statement to ANHA agency, Aido Shukar, the Administrator of the Commission for the Reception of Returnees of Autonomous Administration in Şengal Council, says that the return of Yazidis in the month of August to their land is a powerful response to those who carried out the Fermans and participated in their planning.

"What happened in Şengal at the hands of ISIS mercenaries in 2014, as well as in August 2007, where we witnessed the bombing of Tel Azir and Seiba Sheikh Khadr. The villages were under the control of the Kurdish Democratic Party (PDK) and Iraqi forces at the time, and trucks passed from the authorities' checkpoints to the villages without security scrutiny.

On October 9^th, 2020, the governments of Baghdad and the Kurdistan Democratic Party announced an agreement on security and administrative matters in Şengal but the Yazidis considered the agreement a new Fermanas, and an attempt to foil the resistance that repelled ISIS' attacks.

Aido Shukar confirmed that the agreement was conducted with clear Turkish planning. He said, "Turkey has bombed Şengal more than once, and has worked to ensure that Yazidis do not have access to their own organization, so, having failed to do so, it has pressured Kazemi and Barzani to conclude an agreement against Şengal. Important political figures in the Iraqi state were not aware of it.

He said that the enemies of Yazidis were trying to keep Şengal in disarray and instability.
"They wanted to tighten their control over Şengal and break the will of Yazidis by various means, but what happened was not taken into account.

Because they knew that their unified power and Autonomous Administration would be the only guarantee against repeated Fermanas, without which they would face Fermana every day. Exodus is Fermana, the Convention is Fermana and the attempt by the Iraqi army to enter Yazidis' villages is Fermana.

Cutting off electricity from villages as a means of putting pressure on returnees'
The Iraqi Government is cutting off electricity from the villages of Şengal, after the return of their inhabitants. "We consider this to be an attempt to put pressure on the returnees and deprive them of basic services, and we are doing everything we can to provide them.
