Politicians consider "Kobani lawsuit" to be an attempt by AKP to maintain power

Turkey is pursuing a systematic policy of repression against the Kurdish people, which is to carry out a campaign of extermination against the Kurdish people. This has provoked widespread public outrage on the Kurdish street, which demands justice.

'Constricting HDP '

Since 2015 Turkish authorities have detained thousands of members and leaders of the People's Democratic Party, while the Ministry of the Interior has isolated dozens of mayors elected by the people, and the Turkish parliament has lifted parliamentary immunity from dozens of party deputies and arrested dozens of them.

In a move not new to the Turkish authorities in the context of restricting the People's Democratic Party, the Turkish judiciary began on 24th April with the trial of 108 members of the People's Democratic Party (HDP), including the former co-chairs of the party, Selahattin Demirtaş and Vegan Yuksk Dag, accused of participating in demonstrations in support of resistance by Koani against ISIS between 2014-2015.

Although the European Court of Human Rights and Western capitals had repeatedly called for the immediate release of Selahattin Demirtaş and Vegan Yuksk Dag, the AKP, headed by Erdogan, had refused to release them.

'Justice is being directed according its interests'

In this context, Democratic Union Party administrator in Euphrates region, Ismail Samo said that Turkey was violating Kurd rights everywhere, both militarily and politically, adding that those who supported the Kobani resistance were being tried in Turkish courts in the name of the "Kobani lawsuit," and that there had been a number of arrests of Kurd politicians in Bakur Kurdistan and Turkey recently aimed at breaking the will of the Kurdish people.

They noted that the AKP "wants Turkish courts and justice to be held in accordance with its political interests, not with justice and law, and does not accept the existence of any Kurdish entity in any way, so it seeks to end the presence of the Kurdish people in various military or political ways."

'Trying to win a battle and save its power.'

In a related context, Democratic Union Party member in Euphrates region, Mahmod Abdi said that "the Turkish State wants to hide its internal and economic crises, so it is targeting legitimate defense zones in an attempt to win a battle and save its power."

Abdi asserted that no matter how repressive and arbitrary the Turkish State may be, it will not be able to break the will of the Kurdish people because it resists everywhere, both inside and outside Turkish prisons.
