Co-chair of HDP: In Kobani suit, we will hold them accountable

The co-chair of the People's Democratic Party, Medhat Sinjar, said that the party that should be tried in the Kobani case was the Justice and Development Party (AKP), because its policies in the region had been a major crime. He added: "The events that took place in Kobani were not just about Kobani, and the Kobani case is a political one, so the resistance that took place in that period is of great importance."

The co-chair of the People's Democratic Party, Medhat Sinjar, explained that they rely on popular support to continue the struggle and counter the plans of the AKP "will certainly hold them accountable to history."

The first "Kobani lawsuit" began on April 26^th, with 108 persons being tried, including former Heads Selahattin Demirtaş and Vegan Yuxel Dag. The second meeting is scheduled to be held on May 18^th.

To talk about the "Kobani suit," we had the next meeting with the co-chair of the People's Democratic Party, Medhat Sinjar.

* There have been many conversations on the subject, but what do you think, and why was this issue raised after 6 years of resistance by Kobani? What are their goals?

This lawsuit is a conspiracy; baseless. Six years have passed since ISIS attacked Kobani, during which time no reaction has been taken, but a dossier has been prepared, and now they are demanding severe sanctions without clarifying any rights aspects. It is just a political conspiracy targets People's Democratic Party and the Kurdish people, which is a revenge issue; They seek revenge for the consequences of the struggle against ISIS in Kobani.

Defeating ISIS means not only liberating Kobani, but resisting Kobani means strengthening the power of the Kurdish people in the Middle East, and the whole world respects this position. Therefore, this resistance has failed the accounts of this authority and the State's plans, angered it. It has therefore considered re-raising the issue after a long time. There is also anger and alarm at the consequences of Kobani's resistance against ISIS.

The People's Democratic Party is an important player in the fight against this power. In particular, since the AKP tasted defeat during the election. The People's Democratic Party is a political component that cannot surrender and does not abandon the struggle. Despite all forms of repression and oppression, it continues to struggle and resist, which is the only and most important title of the real opposition and alternative life in Turkey. On the one hand, it seeks revenge for the results of the 2015 elections, as well as for the results of the 31 and 23^rd June 2019 elections.

This is part of the liquidation scheme, where the Government is working to eliminate the Kurdish people. It believes that it will move more easily towards achieving its goals, but it cannot reach its goals 2023. It also seeks to establish a power based on the single-management model, which is bossed by racist and religious policies. The biggest force that is addressing this project and engagement this resistance is the Kurdish people and HDP.

* There is a scheme being implemented in the four parts of Kurdistan, which is an extension of the 2014 liquidation schemes in Bakur Kurdistan where attacks against the HDP and attempts to close it down, and marginalize it, So what's the major plan? And can it be achieved?

Anyone who is a little familiar with history and politics can know that this is not possible, and these schemes are not new, and they span almost a hundred years. Do we mention the plan of "reforms of the East" or policies of denial and extermination? On the contrary, the struggle of the Kurdish people for freedom is growing, and democratic politics continues. The parties have already been shut down, the deputies have been arrested, many of our comrades have been arrested and imprisoned, and they have been unlawfully detained. Currently, many of our comrades are political hostages; But the Kurdish people have not shied away from their hopes for freedom. We cannot be removed from the cause of democratic politics, a peaceful solution and freedom. On the contrary, this struggle has escalated further and has expanded.

After the downing of the Syrian aircraft, Russia uncovered some documents. ISIS is also on the list of terrorist organizations, but what's interesting is that people fighting against fascism, not those working to revive fascism, are being prosecuted?

Our comrades who are being prosecuted have clearly said "We here will work with every means to uncover the truth," and the real trial here is the mind of the AKP and the crimes it has participated in and its policies in Syria. What happened in Kobani did not stop there; Since then, Turkey has been committing crimes against humanity in Syria in various forms. Kobani is a political suit (test), and its resistance is a historical juncture. Of course, our comrades have prepared their own legal and political strategy along these lines, and our party has built its general position in this context. We will try them before history and before the tribunal, because to show the truth is justice. Democracy cannot be achieved in isolation from truth, justice and peace. As in all other fields, the objective of the trial is to reconcile with justice, to achieve justice on that basis, to establish peace and to open the way to a democratic solution.

* Is there any chance that Kobani's lawsuit could backfire on the Turkish state?
In the indictment there are non-identical things, for example, many of our comrades are indicted, relating to matters that occurred during the peace process. The subject of the peace phase is a unilateral event, and all the charges that have been brought against our comrades are events in which the persons and officials of the power are responsible at that time, and in other words, who prepared the indictment made the government of that period an anonymous defendant. So we have to look at this as a simple matter, and I think this case will be used as an important tool, and it will be a way of fueling conflict among people who are now appearing to be allies.

We are confident that we will finally win, and in a short period of time, with this determination, and as long as we receive the great support of our people, the Government cannot survive accountability, we cannot lose, and on the contrary we are confident that we will win.
