Kobane - Nihad Karaw

The trial of 108 members of the Democratic Party, including the two former co-presidents of the Democratic Peoples’ Party (HDP), Saladin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, began on April 26, and will last for 40 days, on charges of their participation in demonstrations in solidarity with the city of Kobane during the attacks of ISIS mercenaries on the city in 2014.

In this regard, the deputy co-chair of the Executive Council in the Euphrates region, Nihad Ahmed, said: "Once again, the Turkish occupation state proves to the world that it is a supporter of ISIS mercenaries through its trial of members of the HDP."

Stressing that this trial "is immoral and unlawful, because they basically stood in solidarity with a stricken city, and they should have been rewarded, not put in prisons."

He added, "There is a big problem in Turkey from which society suffers, which is the judiciary, and until now it is not clear to what extent the role this institution plays, and the most sufferers there are the Kurdish politicians who are being arrested on various unfounded charges."

Nihad Ahmed was surprised by the international silence about what is happening against Demirtaş and his comrades in Turkey, and asked, “Didn't the whole world stand in solidarity at the time with the city of Kobani? Why did we not witness arrests in the rest of the world against the demonstrators in solidarity with Kobani if they were against the laws as Turkey claimes?” Why only Turkey puts whoever it wants in prisons and silences their voices?

'The compass of the judiciary in Turkey is lost'

Ahmed pointed out that the Turkish judiciary’s compass is lost, and Demirtaş and his comrades are victims of this compass’s trends, and is diverging day after day towards unlawful trials that have no basis in the Turkish judiciary, and said: “This is what we have seen: massive arrests of Kurdish civilians and politicians, and imprisoning them under false charges. "

Ahmed noted that this is not the first trial, and referred to the trial of Çiçek Kobane, who had life sentence, and said about it: “surprisingly, the fighter was fighting terrorism, and this is a political message from the occupation state through its ruling that everyone who fights for freedom is liable to be arrested at any moment or assassinated by its agents. "

He continued: "The Turkish occupation state has lost its mind recently, constructing artificial borders with Rojava is evidence, and the indiscriminate shelling on civilians, the last of which was the shelling of the leader's house, and a few days ago it announced the start of the attack on the Legitimate Defense Areas, which means that it proceeds with its hostile policies. "

Ahmed pointed out that the Turkish occupation state internally suffers from economic crises and the bombing and trials it launches are to divert the attention of the Turkish street outside, especially after its defeat in Garê, not to mention its failure to reach Şengal and from there to Mosul and Kirkuk, thus losing its dreams of restoring the Ottoman caliphate.

At the end of his speech, the deputy co-chair of the Executive Council in the Euphrates Region, Nihad Ahmed, sent a message to the detained politicians, in which he said: “We are the people of Kobani, it backs you in heart and soul, and it is time to return the favor, and we are sure that whoever stood with Kobani resistance in its ordeal can stand in the way of the Turkish judiciary, because they are right.
