In conjunction with the anniversary of the Turkish Occupying State's attack on Qereçox mount on April 25th, 2017, the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a written statement, commemorating the martyrs and stressing the continuation of the struggle.

the statement read:

"On April 25th , 2017, the Turkish Occupying State carried out an attack against Qereçox mount, which resulted in the martyrdom of 20 fighters of the People's and Women's Protection Units YPG, YPJ . The aim of the attack was to limit our progress against ISIS and to strike the struggle of the peoples of northern and eastern Syria for freedom and democracy. The Turkish Occupying State also continued its attacks on the same target in Afrin in 2018 and all of Serêkaniyê/ Ras Al-Ain and GIRÊ SPî/ Tal-Abyed in 2019.

In the struggle against ISIS terrorism and Turkish occupation, the people of Kurdistan and the people of Syria have made great losses and sacrificed hundreds.

As a result of this struggle, ISIS was geographically eliminated, as the struggle against it entered a new phase. The attack by the Occupying State against Qereçox mount was aimed at weakening this struggle and impeding our progress. Today, however, despite all the obstructionist endeavors, our people continue their struggle with greater and stronger determination, for freedom and democracy in the face of occupation and all forms of reactivity.

As is known in recent days because of the provocations of the National Defense groups, confrontations have taken place between them and the Internal Security Forces in Qamishlo city. The National Defense group has long created problems in order to strike security and stability, and during the confrontations that have erupted after recent provocations, members of Assyish and of our people have been martyred. One of the notables of the Bani Sabaa tribe, Hayes Al-Jaryan, was also martyred by the National Defense group for his endeavors for peace. We therefore pay tribute to our martyrs and to all our people.

Once again, we commemorate with respect all our comrades who were martyred on April 25th, 2017 and renew our determination to continue the struggle for our people and the gains of our people, in the face of all forms of despotism and occupation.
