Two years after her arrest, as she was defending her land and people during the Turkish occupation's attack on Serekaniye and Gire Spi, the Turkish occupation court issued a life sentence on Cicek Kobane, in flagrant violation of international laws.

On this issue, the Women's Council in NES's statement reads as follows:

The Turkish state's AKP, continues its flagrant violations of frightening levels, as a Turkish court sentenced to life imprisonment the female fighter, the Cicek Kobani in Women Protection Units (YPJ) who was captured by the armed factions tied with the Turkish occupation forces in their blatant attack on NES on October 9 2019, in a military Operation "Spring of Peace", and she was transferred to Turkey for trial in a flagrant violation of all international conventions and norms, as Kobani is a Syrian, captured while defending her people and land against the brutal and unjustified attack by the Turkish state, which claimed lives of hundreds of people and thousands displaced.

What the Turkish state and its backed terrorist factions did was a violation of the Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War of 1949, whereby the captive fighter was subjected to brutal and inhuman treatment, a crime that was documented through pictures and videos that went viral. In a precedent for humanity, the Turkish state was not satisfied with capturing her, while injured and mistreated, but was transferred to be tried on Turkish territory, and thus the provisions of international humanitarian law, human rights law and all relevant laws were brought to light. TheTurkish state was not satisfied, while it was wounded and mistreated, but was transferred to be tried on Turkish territory, and thus the provisions of international humanitarian law, human rights law and all relevant laws were ignored.

We in the Women’s Council in NES condemn and denounce the brutal violations committed by the Turkish state and the armed factions that are amounting to war crimes against humanity. We call on the international community with all its bodies and institutions that legalized these conventions and drafted laws to protect human rights to assume its responsibilities and set an end to the violations of the Turkish state, which witnessed a serious deterioration in the field of human rights inside and outside Turkey, and we also demand the release of the prisoner Cicek Kobani and return it to its land in accordance with international human rights conventions and norms. we call on all women's organizations, civil society organizations and all honorable and human rights defenders to stand with the fighter Cicek Kobani, the fighter in the Women Protection Units (YPJ) that fought the most powerful dark forces and terrorist organizations represented by ISIS, on behalf of All of humanity.
