Dozens of human rights activists in Afrin region gathered in front of the Office of Social Justice in the village of Tal Sawsan in al-Shahba canton, carrying pictures of the fighter Kobani.

The statement was read in in Arabic by Mustafa Kulik, and Kurdish by Roshin Haddu.

The text of the statement read:

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries continue to commit all forms of crimes against the people of the occupied areas in (Afrin, Gire Spi and Serêkaniyê), especially against the Kurdish people. These crimes have amounted war and genocidal crimes against humanity, and this is confirmed by the international committees' reports, including the independent international investigation committee on Syria.

However, the Turkish occupation state not only committed these crimes in the occupied Syria's areas, but tried the Syrian kidnapped and put them before Turkish courts, where Human Rights Watch issued a report accusing the Turkish occupation state of transferring (63) people from Serêkaniyê To Turkey, and to prosecute them under Turkish laws, and issue arbitrary sentences against them.

And the last of these judgments was against the fighter, Cicek Kobani to life sentence, who was captured by the Turkish occupation mercenaries during their attack on Serêkaniyê and Tal Abyad.

Turkey’s transfer of prisoners and putting them before Turkish courts, breaches international human law and the principles of the four Geneva Accords of 1949 and the two additional protocols annexed to 1977, and the annexes to the four Geneva Conventions, especially the third Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war, especially Article IV.

We in the Lawyers Union for Afrin region appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross to quickly intervene and and consider the fighter Cicek Kobani as a prisoner of war, and we also call on the Syrian government to intervene and demand the fighter Cicek Kobani as a subject and citizen of the Syrian Republic.
