Saudi's FM Prince Faisal bin Farhan said in a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart that the Syrian settlement requires a comprehensive political solution, reiterating his country's desire to end the crisis.

"We are keen to coordinate with all parties, including Russia, to find a solution to the Syrian crisis," he added.

On the eve of Lavrov's visit to Riyadh, Saudi Crown Prince MBS met with the Russian President's Special Envoy for Syrian Settlement Affairs Alexander Lavrentiev, and discussed with him the latest developments in the Syrian arena, which confirms official Saudi interest in the Syrian issue.

Circles in the Gulf considered that the Saudi focus on the Syrian issue, and one day after it was raised by the Emirati Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, carries a coded message to the Americans that if you want to bring Iran closer and open the nuclear doors before it again without a clear and decisive definition of its regional role, We will move the Syrian file and push for a solution that takes into account our interests and the region, even if it contradicts with Washington’s calculations.

The Kingdom wants to push for an international solution in Syria that withdraws from Iran an influential card, Iran that has become a major player in Syria in parallel with Russia and Turkey, and succeeded in establishing multiple influence networks that it nominates to stay longer in Syria to influence the rest of the region, especially Lebanon.

The Saudis and the Emiratis view the matter from a pragmatic facade, as the political solution cancels the justifications for Iran's stay in Syria, and an additional element of pressure on it is the need to withdraw from other files such as Yemen, especially in light of an international climate that encourages a serious settlement in Yemen in terms of Saudi Arabia's liberation from a war of attrition. On the other hand, it is pressuring Iran to stop its interference and support for the rebels, which, if it happens, will provide the Saudis with a justification for their interference in Yemen.

Non-interference is Egypt's condition for a normal relationship with Turkey.

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper talked about the Egyptian conditions for the return to normal relations with Turkey, and said: “An Egyptian official source stipulated that Turkey stop “interfering in the internal affairs of the countries of the region” if it wanted normal relations, in response to Turkey's Cavusoglu’s announcement of resuming contacts With Cairo.

The Egyptian "Middle East News Agency" quoted the official source as saying: “There is no such thing as dubbed (resumption of diplomatic contacts),” indicating that the Egyptian and Turkish diplomatic missions exist at the charge d'affaires level “who communicate with the accrediting state according to followed diplomatic norms».

The source added that Egypt expects any country looking to establish normal relations with it "to abide by the rules of international law and the principles of good neighborliness, and to stop attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the countries of the region."

The Egyptian comment came in response to Turkish Erdogan’s saying: “Our economic, diplomatic and intelligence cooperation with Egypt is continuing, and there is no problem with this,” adding, “The cooperation with Egypt continues, and we hope that we can continue in a stronger way.”

'Lebanon ... a blocked horizon, streets open to anger'
