PYNK: Democratic project is based in one of its aspects on the Qamishlo uprising

On Thursday, the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK) issued a written statement marking the 17th anniversary of the Qamishlo uprising, and pledged to follow the path of martyrs of the uprising until the fulfillment of their aspirations for freedom and democracy.

The text of the statement reads: “We pass through the seventeenth anniversary of the Qamishlo uprising that broke out on the 12th of March 2004, from which the Syrian people in general and the Kurdish people in particular learned lessons that became a basis for action later, as the Syrian regime at that time send many constables to create strife between the Arabs and the Kurds, taking advantage of the events that took place as a result of a football match between Al-Jihad Club and Al-Fatwa Club on the grounds of the Qamishlo Municipal Stadium, we all know how the atmosphere prevailing in the region, especially after the collapse of the tyrannical Iraqi regime, created a feeling among the tyrannical regimes in the region of destabilizing their thrones.

'The Kurdish people have proven that they can stand up to the tyrannical regime'

The statement emphasized that "the Syrian regime felt that it had become threatened, so it used its usual methods of repression and tyranny against the Kurdish people, seeking to undermine the will of the Kurdish people and force them to surrender in front of its oppressive security machine, but the Kurdish people have proven that they are able to stand up to the tyrannical regime. And it organized itself, aware of the dimensions of the plot being hatched against him, and took one stand against him, as the Kurdish uprising that spread throughout the various Kurdish regions, in addition to Aleppo and Damascus, was so that the Syrian regime used various methods of repression against that uprising, including killing, arresting and torture, and the result was the arrest and torture of thousands. Inside the detention camps, along with the death of about 40 people and hundreds of wounded. "

The statement explained that the Qamishlo uprising was a step on the path to freedom towards the revolution of the Syrian people in March 2011, especially the Rojava revolution during the July 19 revolution. That uprising, unlike what the regime was promoting of separatist accusations against the Kurdish people, as the Arab brothers and other components realized that the Kurds were not their enemies. Rather, the components of northern and eastern Syria, including the Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians and others were able to understand the mentality of the Syrian regime and its games, so they worked together far away on the temptation of the regime, over the establishment of a democratic autonomous administration and the building of democratic institutions that speak in the name of all components without discrimination, in addition to organized coherent and mutually supportive forces fighting for their freedom and democratic project.

The Kurdish national unity parties recalled the martyrs of the Qamishlo uprising through the statement, and pledged to follow their path until the fulfillment of their aspirations for freedom and democracy. It comes through acceptance, understanding, dialogue, and recognition of the rights of others and their legitimate causes, and we call on all of our people of all components for more cohesion in these circumstances in which our administration and our democratic project have become the target of all enemies of peoples and war merchants.
